Clutch problems/questions

I have a 94 Mustang GT. Ive had clutch problems for a little while.

First started 2 years ago, Clutch got REAL hard to mash, I mean realllly hard. It was a aftermarket Zoom. Just a stock replacement basicly. Well I thought it might of been teh throw out barring retainer, so I got a steel one and replaced it, well teh old alum. piece was messed up but didnt really help out my problem. So after talkin to couple of people, they sugguested me The King Cobra clutch. So I bought it and a new clutch cable, just to be on the safe side. It already had a aftermarket adjustable, I just wanted to be safe.

Well the peddle was really easy at first, really really easy. Compared to my old one. Well couple weeks down teh road, it got harder and harder to mass. Cable isnt binding or anything, Ive done checked, it just seems teh clutch is just harder.

Its basicly like teh old clutch before it had its problems.

Im basicly wondering, why does it get harder to mass? Did I do something wrong?
Ive been driving on teh clutch for about a year, and prolly but all of the year, its been pretty hard to mash. I mean dont get me wrong, I can deal with it, just Id like to have it like it was before it got hard.

Also, What clutch should I go with next. Ive been eyeing the Spec stage 2, Almost went wit it teh first time.

Also sorry for teh lost post.

The King Cobra should have a nice soft pedal like you found when you first installed it; I'm running one myself. Are you still running the factory quadrant, or any aftermarket components aside from the clutch? If you didn't pick up a Ford or Steeda cable, it could very well be stretched or binding up somewhere. How did your bearing retainer look with the last clutch? New throwout bearing? Pivot ball not worn? Probably gonna take a fair amount of checking, but I'm willing to bet something is binding in either the cable or the TOB/bearing retainer.

I have a aftermarket quadrant, nothing is stock but teh fork.

Ive checked everything, like unhooked teh clutch cable from teh fork, and it moved freely, but when I installed teh clutch I could move teh fork with my hand, releasing the clutch, now I cant.

The retainer shouldnt be messed up since its teh steal one. I honestly believe its teh pressure plate. I just dont know why it got harder as time went by.

I would vote for the PP too. When I do clutches on my Mustangs. I get the flywheel turned, buy NEW pilot bearing, NEW T/O bearing, NEW PP and clutch. I just inspect the fork and pivot ball, and only replace if they are worn. My cables have always been nice, so I never have had to replace. I would buy all new parts, get them installed or do it yourself, and see where you stand.

I always recommend CFDX....they have never steered me wrong.

I turned teh flywheel and got new pilot bearing and new t/o bearing.

I just dont realize how it could wear teh pressure plate out so fast? I mean it was like 3 weeks later.

Did you lube the retainer before installing the TOB?

No but it was fine until a month later then it went to hell.

brother-in-law was having this same problem w/ his fox--turned out to be the pressure plate.

Like stated above
