The 2007 Official College Football Thread

i hope the way LSU is playing tonight is how they will play all year! at least for UF's sake... it seems like they're asleep or something! this was NOT what i expected from the #2 team....

I don't know man...41-zip? We left Miss St blowing snot bubbles.

They are playing very conservative. Wait for fireworks next Saturday against VT.

When did Va Tech dominate anything other than the 1 year the dog figter took them to the title game that they lost. They done even dominate the crappy ACC.

**** I dunno what your talking. We beat the ACC Champion last year (at home) and this year with a more seasoned QB we are going to do great.

Whoop de doo. Oregon State beat USC last year in the Pac 10. Did they dominate the Pac 10?

Your team lost as many games in 2003 as USC has since 2002. That my friend is domination.

Funny how USC uses their AP stats when the BCS is what everyone shoots for all season. When it didn't go in their favor on '03 they want to use the AP.

My favorite comment...

"I would like nothing better than to play USC for the [national] title," Miles reportedly said in a speech to a heavily pro-LSU gathering in New Orleans. "I can tell you this, that they have a much easier road to travel. They're going to play real knockdown drag-outs with UCLA and Washington, Cal-Berkeley, Stanford -- some real juggernauts -- and they're going to end up, it would be my guess, in some position so if they win a game or two, that they'll end up in the title [game].

"I would like that path for us. I think the SEC provides much stiffer competition."-Les Miles, LSU Head Coach.

He sure knows how to let his mouth overload his ass. I just hope he can back it up.

Haha yea I saw that hit at the bar last night. It was brutal. I dunno man, the game is going to be a slobber-knocker thats for sure. I can't wait.

Why is the 03 split title the only one that gets so much talk, oh I forgot its LSU fans that bag on USC and claim to be the only title winner that year. Until college has a playoff there can be split champions, but if there are split champs both are champs.

But seriously there is no doubt that the SEC is the toughest division in college football. LSU has a descent schedule, but every good team they play is at home except Alabama and well Alabama hasnt been lighting the world on fire.

I applaud LSU for scheduling a good Va Tech team, but its not like USC schedules all cup cakes in their non-conference schedule either. Its also not like LSU has its share of cupcakes as well. For instance Mississippi State, Mississipi, Tulane, Middle Tennesse State, and Louisiana Tech. Those arent exactly the cream of the crop.

I mean just look at LSUs road schedule - Miss State, Tulane, Alabama, Kentucky, and Mississippi. Sorry thats not exactly a tough schedule.

Meanwhile USC's road games are - Nebraska, Washington, Notre Dame, Oregon, Cal, and Arizona State. Thats a hellua lot harder than LSUs road shedule.

USC has a cupcake division. Let them play somewhere real.

Sorry the Pac 10 is head and shoulders ahead of the ACC. USC's schedule is much tougher than Va Techs. You will get spanked at LSU and your only other remotely tough game is against an average FSU.

The reason the split is such a farce is every program in the BCS decided that was the way the champion would be decided, USC included. Then when things didn't go their way and the media along with ESPN decided they would buck the BCS and award their own champion. It has gotten to the point where the factual errors are getting worse. The "three-peat" thing was fine...until they lost and now it seems that it is forgotten that they were co-champions with the AP title because ESPN constantly refers to them as going for it's third BCS title this season...and that is wrong.

Sorry but LSU's conference road schedule is way above USC's. Only two to three PAC-10 teams are ever worth a flip. Everyone else is second rate. Bama will surprise a lot of people this season and Ole Miss, while not the perennial power always gives conference foes a hard time. Also take into account the PAC-10 doesn't have a Conference championship game. If LSU makes it without a loss I'll be greatly surprised. The lower half SEC teams would beat 3/4 of the PAC-10 every Saturday.

Virginia Tech is paying back a game they backed out of in 2004 to play USC. We played them there in 2002 and are just now getting them back. The OCC schedule is making due with the choices we have. Not many teams want to do home and homes anymore other than the lower Div I's or Div II's. It's all about money...LSU makes a ton with home games and won't schedule less than 7 home games a season. I do respect SC's OCC schedule though. They never seem to be a team to skirt around decent opponents. Most of the ones we played in the past such as Texas A&M or Washington or Oregon St seemed to have backed down over the years. Success will do that. Tulane is on the schedule because it is an in-state rivalry just restarted. We also scheduled other in state school because why play and out of state cup cake when we have plenty already here? :D

Alright, if we get out due and play USC in the bowl game I will grin when we spank the **** outta you.

First I am not a USC fan, I am actually a Purdue and Big 10 fan. But I doubt you would spank the **** out of USC, but good luck next week with LSU when you get your booty pounded by 30.

Stop it LSUs road schedule is not hard at all. Saying a lower SEC team will pose a challenge is like saying Illinois will pose much of a threat to Michigan. In all conferences the low teams all stink, SEC included. There is no question that the SEC has better teams in the top of the conference but dont tell me that Ole Miss, Miss State, or Vandy are worth a hoot. Kentucky is supposedly better this year but hasnt been much, well ever.

I am certainly not trying to knock LSU because they are an awesome team, but people constantly bash USC and say they are a weak team. Well I argue that their record over the past several years including home, away, conference, non-conference, bowl games, etc is a pretty good indicator that they are a great program and imo over the last 5-6 years by far the best consistantly.

Maybe you should try and go play a good team at their stadium like USC, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan do. Of course it all comes down to money but you dont think that a home and away series against say Michigan wouldnt get some $$ your way, your TV revenue would be huge.
