Fox Body Prices

I've recently noticed the prices of fox bodies slowly going up a bit, more for notchbacks and unmolested cars (no accidents or heavily modded). Anyone have ideas if prices will continue to rise or when prices will start to tapper off?

I'm debating whether to sell the notch or keep it. It's got a clean history and all the VIN tags are still intact on all panels. Got a few dings here and there and dent on the rear passenger roof area but it starts everytime. The reason I'm considering to sell is I have 3 cars and probably to much for one person to drive :shrug:

What would you do?

I'm on the west coast and a notchback in good to nice shape that's virtually bone stock (mild mods like flows or just an intake) run between 4k-6k.

+1 It seems like the prices are good for a nice 5.0, but the ones I see for over 4K+ are still for sale. If you have the room for 3 cars, I would put it NOP (non-operational) or collector car status and hold on to it if you can, it's already paid off whats the hurry to sell, I doubt it will decline in value anytime soon.

Only you know if you really want to keep it, or just want to get rid of it, just don't expect miracles when it's time to sell...

I've got a one car garage and currently keep the Cobra in there. I park the notch outside right behind the cobra and the mazda I keep out in front of the house. The houses on my block are arranged in a weird way, they have the garages out back and you access it through an alley way. Plenty of street parking out front but I hate to keep constantly moving cars for street cleaning days and the notch would get stolen pretty easy out in the open.

Definately keep that car if it's in good shape.

I have been looking for 2 year for a black 5 speed LX hatchback 5.0 in or around Wisconsin.

I ended up buying my current car for $5,000 and although it has a tired engine, the body is 100% rust free (which is why I bought it. I figured an engine rebuild was no bid deal compared to body work.

I've owned 2 modulars since my first fox body and things have come full circle....I'm back to where my love of Mustangs started...a black fox body hatch.

Newer cars are faster, more comfy and flashier but they are missing something and you will miss it if you sell.

Keep it.

I know what you mean, I'll be pondering for awhile. No rust on this car as well and all #'s match and almost bone stock except for the K&N filter, Flowmasters, and FMS Aluminum Driveshaft which I installed after I bought the car. So I bought a stock unmolested notch, rare these days. Which makes the decision difficult.

People here want 10K for a ripped apart rebuit carbed notchback with OK paint and stupid drag tires and wheels and a cage. Who wants that garbage? If I wanted a car like that I would build one. I would spend 8-10K on a mint 100% bone stock notchback.

I would keep your notch if you don't need money. If it is a must to go, like a medical emergency, or you have a house to buy, or baby on the way....then sell. it. If your bank account is comfy, then keep it and sell in in 3-5 years when they are even more rare and worth double.

Yeah fox bodies seem to be doing really well, as long as they aren't all hacked up... :rolleyes:

I sold my 99 Cobra for $15,000 which is exactly what I paid for it 2 years ago. If it wasn't for the super low miles it would have been a lot less and that was a $30K car just 8 years ago! And thats a SVT product too. I think blue book is like $11k or some crap. I've seen low milage foxes sell for $11k.

I live in FL and unmolested Foxes are going for around 6-7k, but they sit on the market awhile. the hot rodded track cars go for 2500 and never seem to sit for more than a couple of days. There is a calypso notch down the road from me that I keep trying to get the guy to sell, but he wont budge. Damn thing has no tag and has been sitting for at least three years.
anyway I dont see fox prices going down. maybe steadying off, but not down, There arent that many nice ones anymore. 8 years ago I could look down the street and see at least 3 now I do good to see one a month that isnt a ragged out 4 banger with a trash bag taped over the window.

Before I bought my '89 notch I had previously owned a '92 SSP (Special Service Police package) notch. The notch is expecially attractive to those buyers who have a desire to race these cars on the dragstrip or the racetrack due to their lighter weight and more rigid structure. (At least that is the impression that people have of these cars versus a hatchback.) An SSP stang will command a higher price just because of the nature of this vehicle. Followed closely by a regular production coupe, in good to decent shape. But again, I agree that where the vehicle is sold also factors into how much it will sell for. Wow:jaw: I figure in the conditon my car is in I'll probably fetch around the 3-5K range. Some of those are like showroom condition but most people would want to drive the car instead of letting the car sit all the time.

Around here decent mileage GT's and Hatch's will sell for anywhere from $2,000-$5,000 depending on mods and overall condition.

Coupes in this area range from $2,500 (needs work/racecar) to $7,500(low miles/great paint/mostly stock)

I paid $7k for mine, and I think I could have gotten a comparable car for cheaper. But the paint is near perfect, nearly stock, no rust, and very well maintained.

Id rather pay more for a car with a good body than get a car for half the price that needs body work... body work sucks.
