Any Upper Control Arm write ups?

I just got my ajustable BMR UCA and it didnt come with any directions for installing it. I did a search for a UCA write up install and didnt find one. Mainly I would like to know how to set the pinion angle correctly. My car is not lowered. thanks

i am not sure of the magic number to set the angle to, but here is a CAR CRAFT article about it. this is only the basics. http://www.carcraft.com/howto/91758/

for the BMR arm, you loosen the jamb nuts, rotate the adjustment nut with a wrench, check/adjust the angle, and then tighten the jamb nuts. easy as cake. you will need a few specialty tools though.

I installed a BMR Upper Control Arm two years ago. (10 K miles) It is the one that is adjustable with the Spherical Bearing. It works fine but it is now noisy as is the usual case with sphirical bearing suspension components. Make absolute sure you torq everything to specs (130 ft lb) and check it periodicaly. The install is pretty straight forward, but lowering the fuel tank is a pain in the A$$.

If your car isn’t lowered you shouldn’t have to worry about the pinion angle. Just measure the center to center distance on the stock arm and adjust the new arm to the same length before you install it.

sorry, been on vacation for a while. this is the first time i have logged on to SN since my last reply. i am waiting for an adjustable upper from J&M.

Well, apparently YOU DO have to lower the fuel tank in order to install the UCA. With the BMR UCA write up it made it sound like you only needed to lower the fuel tank if you were installing the UCA Mount. Then, me and my friend had trouble getting the stock bolts off. Ford use a lot of lock tight on them. We ended up running out of time so we kept the stock UCA on and rescheduled to put the BMR UCA on sunday.

Loweriing that fuel tank was a major pain in the Arse to do. I did mine in my garage with no helper, off of jack stands. Actually putting it back on was the tougher part for me, but you have a helper so that should make a big difference. Make sure you get your pinion angle correct when finishing.
