:nice: thought i would get some advice before i make a mistake. here it is, 06 gto some kid owns that i work with has been running his mouth about how slow mustangs are compared to his gto. now first of all i don't like street racing but he's now running his mouth about me:mad: where i live we don't have a track within 2.5hrs away:bang: so i figured what hell lets do it!!! he's got i know of full exhaust, cai, bigger intake, and a few more bolt-ons but i know for a fact he has stock heads and block... the down fall to my setup is, i have a slight compression leak in one of my cylinders. car runs hard and i really haven't noticed a big difference. i buddy who i bought the car from ran a 04 cobra weeks back but this was all before the cylinder leak, but in all doi have a chance.. never been to the track but my builder estimated low 11's w/ slicks... but on the street i can't hook 1-3 with my radials. but what the hell i'll keep u guys posted on what happens...

My brother in law recently went 13.0@108 in his bone stock gto....just depends on driver more so....if you have traction problems like that borrow some dr's if you can to seal the deal. good luck

Its gonna come down to driver mang sorry to break it to you but if you have no traction he might rape you. My friend Joe has an 05 6.0 GTO w/ cai, exauhst sticky tires and a shifter and he is running 12.7 - 12.9s with his car consistently. If this kid has an intake and t/b he might smoke ya sorry to say it some GTO's are stout cars.

If you can hook up you'll spank him badly. If you roast your tires through 3 gears then he'll win. Invest in some drag radials or a better set of control arms if you don't have them already and then go kick his butt.

Once aain he said the GTO had some bolt ons.. Its not ging to be as bad of a spanking as everyone thinks..

Definately will come to down to the driver. Should be closely matched if he can drive and you can settle the traction issues.

I ran dead even with a GTO in my bone stock 97GT to 60mph.. 3 times in a row. Sometimes, I even put a bumper on him. He still had the temp tags, and no doubt was clue less about driving it. I'm sure he was pissed though :D

I'm not sure how so many of you think this is going to be a total spanking with the Mustang coming out on top. Judging by jcw88's mods, he can't be putting out any more than about 360-370hp tops. The '06 GTO without mods is already pushing 400hp/400tq....and even basic bolt on's on those cars add HUGE power.

I'd say the only advantage the Mustang has over the GTO in this case is it's lighter. My prediction....if he catches you napping at the light, you're sunk!

After reading that, I can say with near certainty that you ran a pre-05 GTO. The ’05-up cars packing the 6.0L LS2 V8 are a whole other ball game.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was one of the early 5.7s too. Still it is laughable to think a 225hp mustang has a chance vs a 350+hp GTO. No doubt he would have owned me above 60 though.

Just goes to show you how big of a role weight plays in the equation. If my Power/Drive train was packaged into a smaller car like a Mustang, I'd be running low-12's to high-11's with the power I’m making. But since I'm running it in a 4,000lb tank, with a long wheel base and Independent Rear Suspension to boot, high-12's are all I'm able to muster thus far. :(

Yah seriously!.... :(

The GTO you'll be racing - if it's an auto, you'd better practice your launches. If it's a stick, hopefully he can't drive and he doesn't have that many bolt ons. Either way, let us know what happens.

BTW - Street racing FTL.

Click sig - my goat.

thats sweet, is that real or a photoshop? ive seen semi transparent hoods before but nothing like that.

Its going to depend on the type of race (dig or roll) and driver. A co-worker of mine has an 06 manual with long tube headers, CAI, and tune. His has run a best of 8.73 in the 1/8 (90 deg, 75% humid). He's a good driver, not bad, not great. These cars are really difficult to launch.

I've run a best of 8.64 in the 1/8 (mods in sig, street tires).

Yes they make big power stock and respond very well to mods. But, they weight around 3800 lbs. You're 600-700 lbs lighter.

From a dig - It'll depend on driver.

From a roll - you should take him. Those cars are geared pretty tall.

Let us know what happens.
