Has anyone had a chance to modify their stock valve covers to fit 1.6/1.7 rockers? I have seen it done a bunch of times by people in MMFF mag. but i have never seen posts from people who have actually done it and seen where to modify.

What valve covers will clear 1.6/1.7's. Im not worried about clearance because i have a 1inch spacer on my trickflow intake.

Thanks

Usually the interference is in the baffle. You just grind or pry out the baffle plate and they are usually fine.

you don't have to pry the baffle, it's held on with 2 or 3 screws. personally, i wouldn't recommend doing it. i took out the baffle and grinded down on the fins where the baffle was screwed down to on my stock valve covers to clear my crane 1.7 rr's. worked fine until i realized how much oil i was now getting in my intake. i have since replaced them with 95 cobra valve covers which are stock height, stamped sheet metal, but is raised where the baffle is on the oil filler neck. if i were you i wouldn't remove the baffle, it's not worth the trouble. if you absolutely insist on using the factory valve covers, find a way to put the baffle back in after you grind down the fins or fab up another baffle to keep the oil from getting to the vent hose. you could just ignore everything i've just said and do it anyway; in that case at least run an oil seperator in the PVC hose, but you'll be emptying it out every other day.

When I had a B-cam and 1.6 rockers, it cleared my stock valve covers and cork gaskets. When I switched to a bigger cam over (500 lift), they didn't clear....

I have fel-pro permaseal gaskets they work great. And i already have the valve cover nipple that goes to the throttlebody capped off because of boost. Im using an F-cam. I know the covers have 3 small bolts because i removed them to clean the covers when i polished them and painted them. So if thats all i gotta do is remove the baffle then i'll do it.

What are some good covers that will clear them, most of the nice looking Ford racing ones say not for EFI. Also i like the look of the Trickflow covers that come with the top end kit, but do they clear 1.6s ?
