Fuel Injection Screens

I have been fighting a lean condition for a while so I thought I'd replace all the seals on the injectors and check the screens, turns out a couple look really bad. I have the replacments, but what kind of technique do you guys or have u used to take the old screens out?

What fuel injection screens are you talking about?

they are in the end of the injector that connects into the fuel rail

Ah, i know what you mean now.

I was never aware those were replaceable. Where did you get replacements from??

It came with a service kit I bought from a company on ebay. I was trying to figure out what was wrong and browsing the net I came upon a couple things where they had the same problem I did so I thought, wth? Kit was like 20 bucks shipped and I knew I needed a couple new pintle caps so I went ahead with it.

One method is to use a machine screw.

apparently I didn't have the right size, but I found a GREAT method: I bought a screw extractor set a while back and it was a cake walk. Thanks for the replies though guys!

How do you know you are running lean?
What sized injectors?
