So cal
what the most RWHP you can get out of a stock stroke, 302-306, with all the bolt-ons on stock heads/Cam, No porting/poshishing, No Nitrous,No Turbo, No superchargers, No Strokers, No short belts, no deleting smog, EGR and it must be streetable and pass smog. (Blot-ons are things like, Intake manifold, Headers, H-pipe, Adv timming, MAF, TB's, Roller Rockers, Pulleys, electric W/P's, Lighter Flywheel, Ect.)

There's a massive difference when you include "306" because that opens the doors to lots of compression and all the cam lift you want (even though at some point it'll be wasted on stock heads). On a stock bottom end, i couldn't imagine more than 230hp max, but with higher compression, a custom cam, race gas and everything else, who knows. Maybe 7,244hp

i would say that if you are using the stock bottom end and stock heads and cam...you will likely max out around 240rwhp. This is assuming the heads are untouched. With some porting, gasketmatching, some milling and a good valve job i would bump that up to about 260rwhp with a good intake.

This is assuming you are running a quality intake manifold (street heat, performer, ported gt-40 family) along with a 65mm TB and upgraded MAF and full exhaust, pullies, blah blah blah.

There was a thread around here where a guy touched off 300rwhp with a custom cam.

stock RWHP depending on how good of cond. and how many miles it has...190rwhp. On a good fresh low milage motor 200Rwhp, tops.

So you will spend $1500-2000 on good aftermarket parts to only get 230rwhp...I guess 30-40 rwhp is pretty ok, but for the money spend that bad.

I dare not even guess how sad the numbers would be on my AOD '86 GT 'vert... :(

Good to know that I could be up around the 240 range if/when I can ever afford to throwing on a set of ported E7's and a decent intake, though. :nice:

with bone stock heads and cam, 230 is probably the limit, but if you want to put in a crazy ass cam, port the **** out of the heads, put in bigger valves and raise the compression, you would probly see in the high 200's at the wheels. You can get some half decent numbers out of the stock heads with some work in to them. But by the time you've done that, you could have picked up a used set of AFR's and had better numbers. Only worth while if you are requird to stick with the stock heads.

*scratches head*

But you are spending money in the wrong place by not touching the heads. If you were even to go mild and use some rough figures......

$500 gt40 iron heads
$400 cobra intake
$200 TFS1 cam
$200 65mm TB
$250 MAF

Totaling $1550 and I'd be willing to bet you would clear 230rwhp, prolly be around 250 at the wheels

So thats around 60 more hp to the pavement than stock.....not bad in my eyes.
