Im thinking about switching over to long tubes sense my old headers are coming off and getting replaced. Just kinda confused about the mid pipe.

I obviously realize that I need to get a different mid pipe. I was just wondering if it is possible to have a muffler shop cut a mid pipe for shorty headers and weld it back up to use with Long Tubes.

So any info, pics, opinions ideas let me know please. Thanks again.

Oh and please don't call me cheap and just to buy one that is meant for long tubes. I realize thats an option but I am trying to do this because I need to have the Cats on the pipe(Gutted) in case I get pulled over by the police and they look. Paying 400$ for something I am just going to ruin the cats on is not what im after.

Yes you can and that's exactly what I did when I had my MAC long tubes installed. The exhaust shop cut the midpipes at the front 6" or so behind the header flanges (keeping the o2 sensor bungs), shortened the midpipe by cutting off the next 21" section on each side from the front, and welded back the 6" long offcuts with O2 sensor bungs onto the remaining midpipe. Quite easy really.
Remember that you'll need a pair of O2 sensor wiring harness extensions to complete the job because the O2 sensors will end up about 6" or so further back than before.

Cool man thanks. I appreciate it. How much did it cost you do do that? If you don't mind me asking. Did they do it with the car there? Im assuming they did. Thanks again.

I had this done when I initially went to longtubes...I had a Bassani X that I had them modify to fit. However, later I replaced it with a custom x made by Rob Lasota. It has been a while, but I think the car picked up like 20 rwhp. Not saying you would see those same kind of results...but still...I think I would go ahead and buy one. I would recommend the Dr. Gas X.

Yes the car needed to be there so they could measure the pipes and line them up properly. Remember I'm in the UAE where labor is cheaper. I think I paid about $110 for 3 hours work.
