a- trim????

I've got one, V-1 a-trim. mods are below. can definately hear the whine outside the car, not so bad inside. Pushin almost 8 pounds of boost with a smaller S/C pulley and still using the dryer hose inlet. Was just looking on ebay for a boostmaster pipe. (not sure yet on that, don't really have time to modify the pipe for bypass tube) Gets around 16 Mpg city and 24 Mpg highway. (just did 1150 miles out to Kansas) With the FMS engine and S/C it's putting down 380 Rwhp and 389 Rwtq. At the strip it is nearing the limit of needing a roll bar in the car. No desire to put a cage in it which is also a consideration of why I may not get a pipe.(if what they claim is true) Currently removing the A/C stuff since it hasn't worked in years so that just might put me at the limit! (and if I can get my first to second shift down after being thrown back in the seat :nice: )

Vortech has an S/C upgrade policy in place if you ever want to upgrade. I believe they'll give you $1000 credit when you trade yours in towards a higher priced model (if it's still in good working condition, less if it needs work)

The based unit A-Trim has really been replaced by the SC trim, it has the newer Vortech technology. The base kits are very nice and come fairly complete, if your definitly looking down the road to build a motor I'd suggest going 1 step up on the blower, it will save you money in the long run over the upgrade and supporting pieces you do not get with the base kits.

I have an A-Trim on my stang, I like it, its not the greatest supercharger out there but it gets the job done. I especially like the whine that comes with the older vortechs. I haven't run my stang at the track yet, but I know the previous owners of it and they ran low 12s with the combo in my sig, and the best that I know that it has run is a 11.7. Im going to running it at the local track May 3rd so Ill see what I can get it to run.

so you can run an a-trim on a fairly stock motor? you dont seem to have many mods....is your intake ported at all? .....also is stangbox a tuning computer or what is that?

The A-trim was based on running against the stock motor, all the way down to the injectors & fuel pump. Whether or not that's smart to push the envelope is another story. I ran one a few years ago, my setup was: intake, TB, 75mm mass air, full exhaust, intake, and 255lph fuel pump (block, heads, rockers, cam, injectors were stock). I put down 300RWHP/330RQTQ with the use of a 2.95" pulley on it. It was very fun even w/my stock AOD and I kinda wish I stayed w/that setup. But the S-trim setup is crazy fun now that I have a transmission that can support it

No my intakes not ported, but Im going to upgrade to an explorer intake, 70mm MAF, Boost Pipe and 70mm Throttle body soon, and Ive been told I still shouldn't have any problems running stock 19lb injectors all long as Im running an FMU. I also have a 255 LPH intake pump.

A stangbox is basically a plate and mounting brackets that replace your upper torque boxes when they get damaged.
