Hey all, new noob here. I've been into these things my whole life, my first car was an 86 GT, would have never gotton rid of it but some drunk dude had to hit me. So 13 years later I bought a toy, sight unseen(dont ever do that) Father in law went and drove it, he's a chevy guy, said it was awesome, so I told him to pick it up for me. Got the car a coule days later, suuuuuuper slow.(chevy guy, figures) I think i could have walked faster than this thing was moving. Well, had some gears and a locker for it, put those in. still slow. intake, headers, exhaust. still slow. Noticed a little knock developing in the morning, just a fraction of a second till it got oil pressure, so we know where thats going: pulled the bottom end, rod bearings are all brassy, had an E303, put that in while it was out, put the Cobra rockers on it, I'm pretty handy with all this stuff, been working on old stuff forever, not too great with EFI but I'm learning. Car is still slow, jumped on StangNet, looked up low power mustangs, found somebody that said 'clean the MAF meter that can rob like 30-40 hp' Smart dude, felt like it was robbing 200 hp, leaving me with 3 or 4 to move the car around. 1st test drive, major improvement, and it idles better. This thing runs like a raped ape. 3rd gear scratches, no sweat. Nothing less than what I would expect from her. So since you guys helped me out I figure I need to stick around and listen to ya, so I signed up today. Thanks for your help!
