I don't think macco wetsands either - i think they just shoot paint... Teh end??? Anyone know if thats true??

I don't know if they wetsand or not. But your paint sure is gleaming! I've seen close ups of your car too. Wet sand, or not, they did a damn good job, and it looked like there was no orange peel. You prolly found a Maaco that cared about their rep. There is 1 Maaco around here like that. I think they did a great job on your notch.

Do you have any pics of your black coupe getting painted? I am about to do body work and paint on my DD. Made a thread about it before. Going with black again and am wondering if I should get single stage or a couple coats of color and a few clear. I want it to last along time. What is your opinion
Yes sir!! IF you paint black, go with bc/cc. Single stage black, will drive you nuts when you go to wet sand it, because it will show EVERYTHING!! The clear is a little bit softer so it wheels out very easy. The trick to black, is get it smooth before paint. If you don't use a sealer, I would lay down 3 coats of paint, wetsand it with 1500, lay down 2 more coats of paint, then clear it. It will turn out excellent. BUT...I highly recommed a sealer because it fills in all scratches, and will not allow the paint to shrink, or any primer to eat through it. If you use a sealer, there is no need to wetsand the paint before sealer, and no need to wetsand the sealer before paint. I wish I knew about sealers before I painted my black notch. I just painted over the yellow primer and the maroon paint. It took a lot of paint to cover it.
I then assembled the hood, doors, fenders, and painted those on the car, but I have pics at my parents. I painted all the bumpers and moldings off the car on stands. I have no tape lines on the car anywhere.

Well the thing is me and fivespeedsteed are taking off the trim and such and sanding the whole car and fixing dents. Taping off the entire car and giving it to a guy at cardinal body works. What would you tell him if it were yours.
Well, since he is in the profession, I wouldn't tell him too much. You don't want to make him think that you think he is inferior...
BUT....I would just ask him if he can paint it black using base coat clear coat. Then ask him if he can spray 1 coat of grey sealer on the car before he paints it. He should know to do this, but sometimes shops don't to keep cost down. It is worth the extra money for the sealer because the car will look better not only the day you get it back, but months and years down the road. See, after I wetsanded my black notch, it looked great, but then 3-4 months later, some spots shrunk up again. I had to wetsand those and rub them again. 2 years later, they are still gone, but it just made more work and aggrevation for me.

Ok I just talked to the painter he said for him to use sealer and paint 2bc and 2 cc on it would be 700 and for 3bc and 3 cc it would be 850. Doesnt sound to bad. Also learn how to prep a car completely before it goes in for paint.
Not bad bro, not bad at all. I would pay the extra 150 for a 3rd coat of clear. It really leaves a lot of room to wetsand after paint. It even leaves room down the road for wetsanding in case you get a tiny scratch in the clear or something like that. The gloss and shine with 3 coats of clear is much better as well. When I had two coats on my black car, I was satisfied, then I sprayed the 3rd and my eyes almost popped out of my head.
When I painted my black Lightning, I used 4 coats. That was overkill, and my wrist was dead after, but man did that look sick. That paint was the best paint I ever sprayed, but man, it was a lot of work. (Don't get any ideas now...3 is more than enough....
)

You'll make another one. I always miss my stangs when I sell them, but they always get better.
Will I still get that deep dark color as I would on a single stage? By the way what black has a darker tone/or darker color

We got a motorless 4cyl hatch on the trailer right now... might be sold already though.
