Here's the scoop. I just sold my baby, my 1965 Mustang 2+2, and I've got a nice big chunk of change. I considered putting it all into a GT500 and getting rid of my car but decided against it. I was planning on going N/A with nitrous and cams. I've decided against it, too. I'm going to be adding a supercharger. I figure I've spent a lot of money on my car already and I could make just as much power as a stock GT500 with a supercharger and it'd be a lot cheaper. As far as modifications go right now, I've got ... VMP 93 octane tune, C&L Racer with 88mm maf tube, Magnapacks welded up as a mid muffler system with SLP LMs as tips, UDPs, and CMCVs. Suspension wise, I've got Steeda Sport Springs, Tokico D-Specs, and a BMR Adjustable Panhard bar. Of course all of the other "look good" modifications.

So here is my question. I want to hear everyone's opinions on these two superchargers. I'm considering the Saleen 475 hp kit or the Whipple H/O kit, both in black. I'm planning on running ~450 rwhp so I'm thinking it'll be easier with the Whipple. Which one would you get and why?

I'm going to be adding gauges, of course. I'm thinking of just running a boost gauge and an A/F gauge. Which gauges would you recommend? I'm going to be putting them in a Speed of Sound pod. I want them to go along with my interior and each other. I've got the interior upgrade package and most of my interior lights are blue, so keep that in mind.

Now what are the other mods that I'm going to need to do? I want to do a coolant overfill tank. I know it's not really going to do anything but I just want it. Any brand recommendation? I know I'm going to need to do LCAs and probably UCAs wouldn't be a bad choice. Any brand recommendations? Driveshaft probably wouldn't be a bad idea, either. Brand recommendation? I'm going to roll with the stock clutch until the stock one starts to go but what do you recommend? I'm going to be less than 500 rwhp and it's my daily driver right now. I want something with a "stock like" feel. Anything else that I've left out? I'm open to all suggestions and ideas?

Thanks in advance !! :flag: :SNSign:

Heres my $.02 after about a year and a half of research;

Driveshaft is a must - The most reccomended I've seen anywhere is Spidershaft.

A UCA and LCA's - I know of more than a few ppl that have destroyed BMR bushing type LCA's so steeda or J&M would be my choice. Unless your going hiem joints. Then BMR all the way, but this will make a far from stock feel and lots of extra noise. Also, if you get a UCA get the matching HD mount too.

60lb injectors - Don't mess around here if you plan on more power in the future, do it right the first time.

GT500 Duel Pumps - A must if you ask me. Yeah a Boost-A-Pump will work, but it will make your fuel pump work harder and die faster.

Clutch - Either Centerforce DFX or Spec Stage three are the most reccomended. Either way, you are probably going to want a heavy duty TOB from Mcloed or RAM. Most people reccomend the Mcloed because of fewer problems.

Line locks - If you ever plan on going to the track or want to do badass burnouts its a must. Cheap, easy and oh so fun!

Lastly but not leastly! Drag Radials on a set of extra wheels. Once again, if you ever hit the track, these are a must with more than stock power. Hell, even with stock power.

Thats all I got right now that I can think of off the top of my head.

Very nice! Line locks are awesome. Your car is going to be as fast as it looks now! Good choice on keeping it over buying a GT500. I'd do the same.

Forgot to mention that I ordered a line lock earlier today !! :D

Line locks are way too much fun! I installed Granatelli line locks a few weeks ago. They're gold anodized and I mounted them on my CAI shroud.

I also installed a sidewinder shift ball on my Hurst S/T shifter. The button placement is perfect for controlling the line locks. The red LED at the top of the shift boot indicates when the solenoids are powered. I'll probably move it to a permanent location in the dash or console but haven't decided where just yet.

I went with the Whipple HO kit as I liked the old school look of it compared to the Saleen which is totally buried. The Whipple also comes with the dual fuel pumps. For gauges I went with Autometer Cobalt in an Autometer triple A-Pillar pod. I'm not thrilled with the finish on the pod and plan to change it out to an SOS triple pod. At the time I couldn't find an SOS pod with all three egg crates lined up perfectly. I went vac/boost, wideband AFR, and fuel pressure. The other mods I did in conjunction with the S/C was an air/oil separator to keep blowby oil from fouling the intercooler exchanger, and I relocated the intake air temperature sensor from the stock MAF location to a dedicated sensor in the #6 intake runner.

If you have any mechanical ability at all you can do the install yourself - it's tedious but not difficult and will save you a bunch of cash. You can also ensure that everything is done right as there's lot's of places for shortcuts (not soldering the harness extensions for example).

They're both easily capable of putting down 450rwhp for around the same price. Both are good blowers. The Whipple is capable of more power, but if you're just looking for 450, either one will work just fine for ya'. What I would do is find a local shop and see what they have tuned more of. You're going to want a dyno tune, and you want someone knowledgeable with that. If you're not going to install it yourself, then you'll just want to go with whatever they've installed and tuned the most.

Nice ! I have considered selling my baby.....The 65 coupe in my sig.(just click on the name for pic)..But I am not sure if I can actually part ways with her...

I do want a supercharge or turbo though...
