So I see a trend with pretty much everyone I know. Those that live at home, drive nice, expensive cars. I did the same. Had my nice clean Audi A4 when I lived at home. Moved out, stuck with the F250, and now this car. $300 turd that starts right up, heat works GREAT, shifts fine, and should get 30+ mpg on my daily commute. I have read low 16s, possibly eek a high 15.9 with some good driving.

So what do you say? $300, drive it for the next 6 months, and then take it to the track with some home made and free mods and go for broke??:banana::jester:

The previous owner said 30+ on the highway. This is the 1.8 DOHC Mazda engine, they also had a 1.9 SOHC Ford motor in the LX and sedan models. It moves alright, for the half throttle and normal shifting I have done. Don't want to temp fate yet with a 7000 RPM power shift.

sounds like a plan to me... did the audi get lost in the house shuffle or you still got that?

Actually a little over a year ago I hit some ice and tagged the rear of an F150 at about 20-25 mph. Hit it just right and totalled that car. Got the loan paid off and have been driving the F250 ever since. Truck did 10-11 in the summer, but dropped into the 8-9 range when winter hit. Couple that to a mortgage and bills and it just wasn't the best scenario. So this car should help ease the pain a little.

Haha sounds like we switched places. I moved away from home when I was 18, so I've driven cheap cars until i finished school at 23. I still don't drive anything as nice as an Audi, though. :D

I love my Fusion, but sometimes I kind of wish I would have just bought a car like what you have there. No car payment FTMFW.

Yeah, after some time I will most likely get a decent car. GFs got her C class Benz, so we use that for the most part. I just need the 30+ mpg, and have 3 cars and a boat paid off.

The 250 is a V10. Biggest gas pig vehicle around. I got mid 8 mpg on a few tanks, but had the hubs locked in due to our driveway.

Don't start me, I love SHOs... :D

My buddy had the 1.9 SOHC. According to him, they are a little better on mileage compared the the Mazda engine.

Still great cars. Very reliable. His car has the best A/C I've ever experienced. We would grab lunch on a 100* August day. The interior would be ice cold after 5 minutes...lol.

Looks like a win to me!!! I paid $300 for my 77 F100 longbed, 300 six with 3 on the tree...runs great! Not the best on gas tho which has had me peekin around for a deal like what you just found! Ide ****** that thing up in a heartbeat.

I paid $200 cash for this beast here. Nissan s12 (200sx). 2.0l 4 cyl, 2 plugs per cylinder (race ready :nice:)
No stereo, windows sucked and it smelled like ****. IRS rear was not good for the burnouts :D But it got me to work for a few weeks on like 3 gallons of gas. Got rid of it when some ricer offered me $500 for it.
It ran a 19 sec Quarter FROM a 20 ROLL out on a country road.
Easily the slowest POS ive ever owned or driven. But it was great to have something to just rip the piss out of. 8k clutch dump and shifting past red line (wherever that was). Ill never knock someone for having a beater, although yours looks much nicer than mine was.

I saw two kids at lebanon with those cars, i was like WTF are these chuckleheads doing, had FWD FTL in big dail in lettering on the back window, and i watch the thing make a pass... Runs 12.2 at over 120, i talked to the kid, i dunno if it was that mazda motor you have, but it had a mazda motor with a turbo on it.

The 1.8LDOHC motors never went bad. Dude...back in the 90's we piled those things up. We'd have 20-30 at a time and they NEVER sold. You couldn't give them away. The only thing is the transmissions went. So be carefull powershifting...lol

And my girl had a 93 LX 1.9L car and yes, it always started and got great mileage!!

Was it black and from CT? If so he recently went high 11s with it. :D I do my internet trolling on every vehicle.

Yeah I don't plan to abuse it until it has lasted me a good while.

BTW this car is far from nice. The drivers door on the way to lunch caught the fender and pulled it in. Pry bar should fix that later today!

Pretty sure that was the guy, the kid was a little bit on the strange side but he knew what he was doing and i'd love to see that thing embarrass alot of guys i on the street

Dude the DD looks nice! Why kill it in 6 months i say drive it till it dies. How many miles are on it?

I have all my cars paid off, the stang, wife's 98 Civic and my 07 Escape. Nothing better then not having a car payment! I have enough school loans to be paying back haha!

I hear ya on that 1990... I have around 60k in school loans.. takes a nice $600+ from my budget every month...Which is exactly why I have two of my three cars paid for. Wish I could get the wifes x5 paid off... but I dont see that happening any time soon.
