Some of my molding on my 1990 coupe I'm restoring is a little rough looking and feeling and I don't want to have to buy all new molding around. This is the molding that wraps the car... I'm going to be painting it white when I paint the car in the next few months. Is there any tips and tricks to use the existing molding if it is a little rough? Is it possible to sand it at all?

I don't know if there's any good way to do it. If you're going to sand, I'd do it lightly. I know that mine's damaged enough were I'd rather just replace it (missing a chunk in the top corner of the front of the passenger door. Some how it slipped forward and snapped off).

Let me know if you figure anything out. It'd be helpful if I could save $90 on new molding.
