Good choice for the sealer. I used Nason Grey. Part number 422-48. Use the appropriate Nason Activator for the sealer. I recall you said your in AZ, so get the high temp. activator. (You can use a Dupont sealer too, but it's more expensive)

Buy 1 quart of sealer, and a 1/2 pint of activator. Mix 4 parts sealer 1 part activator. One coat is all you need to spray. Don't lay it really wet, because this stuff runs very easy, and it dries as hard as a rock if you have to wetsand those runs. Just cover the car, if it looks like orange peel, it will lay down as it dries.

Good choice Coupe, especially because the color will have some pearl in it.

BTW...I went out in the yard yesterday to get some rear caliper mounting bolts for "someone I know" and the car just happened to be Sonic Blue. While I wrenched on getting the bolts out, I just stared into that paint. It is some sexy stuff, man, I couldn't imagine it on a fox!!

Nice!!!!! I think it will look good.. I was even thinking of painting the 5.0 badges black, the red dot sonic blue to match the car, and finish it all with a blue pearl coating over it.. that will make the badging look bad ass i think

I agree. The badges will be there, and somewhat blend in. I think that being unique will grab some attention. That will look nice.

That's it man. "99" Black is black as black can be. That was the color of all blacks for all cars. The car will be sick as can be bro. It will look great!! Remember...grey sealer before the paint and clear. Trust me, you don't want the paint to shrink after it's wetsanded and rubbed, so seal it up!!

32 is dead on, that is exactly what we did when we painted mine. Sealed it, 3 base coats, 6 deep coats of clear and no baking. Wet sanded and buffed about 3 days after it was painted. I have enough clear-coat on it to wet sand and buff it a few more times. It was a smart investment.

JUST BOUGHT MY DUPONT 72200 PREMIER URETHANE CLEAR AND ACTIVATOR, ALONG WITH A GALLON OF 99K BLACK CHROMABASE URETHANE BASECOAT. CAN"T WAIT TO GET IT! JUST NEED TO BUY MY BASEMAKER AND MY SEALER.......SVT YOU SAID I CAN USE THE NASON SEALER. Right?

Nason is made by Dupont, it's their cheaper line of products. Dupont sells Dupont sealer too, it's just a little bit more money. I used grey Nason sealer on my buddies black GT, and I used white Dupont sealer on my yellow notch. The only reason I went with Dupont sealer for my yellow car, is because Nason did not make white sealer. I wanted white so the paint would be much brighter. But, yes you can use Nason sealer and Dupont paint.

painting tips

Got my paint and clear today. Just need to get my sealer.. Now I have a question. If I take my doors, hood, trunk of to paint my jams and engine bay and paint those items seperately off the car will the color match after i put them together? I don't want it to look like it was painted at different times,like two different shades. Should I paint the jams and insides first them let them dry and another day paint the whole car together as one?Just trying to see what the easiest and best way of doing this. Thanks

The car won't be a different color. 99K black is 99K black. I would paint all the jambs, engine bay etc...one day. Then assemble it, tape off all that stuff so overspray doesn't fog it all up. Then tape up the outside of the car, and paint it as a whole. Hanging painted parts is nail biting. New paint is soft and could possibly chip if it hits something. I hate hangin parts after paint....gets me nervous. I painted my black notch like that, and I painted Hack Job as a whole, and I gotta say that was much better, and faster.

ok thanks.Just wanted to know.I heared and read that if you paint things seperately,on different days the colors won't be the same.like if you paint fenders and hood seperate from the body and you see it out in the light the colors look different(different shades).Supposably has to do with weather.Is that true?

Even if that was true, you would want the exterior of the car to match itself. How often are you going to see the door jambs, etc...? Probably not enough and you won't be able to tell the difference. 32 is spot on, he knows his stuff.

I have a question, when you repaint the whole car a different color, what do you do with the sticker that is on the door jam that has the vin,Can I take it off?

Yeah thats what i did. it looks like a new one but its not. i think i have a picture of the passenger side there....It was a different color...I was going to paint it the original color but then i saw tims mustang and fell in love with it...
