Let's talk crap about NASCAR

my my how insightful

Announcer #1: "So what are we to expect today?"

Announcer #2: "Well, I tell you get ready to see a lot of fast cars today!"

REALLY, I MEAN REALLY, these has beens get paid to say that? My friggen six year old daughter said the same thing the other day during Nationals, where's her check $$$

Ford Sweep

there I just finished watching the entire race (over 4 hours of NASCAR) and you know I don't hate it, there's plenty of cool stuff, but with all the built in parity it's as exciting as watching a coin toss tournament

and the whole time I was thinking are there any FORDS in this race, and then after the green - white - checker finish they came in

1. Ford
2. Ford
3. Ford

where the heck did they come from - LOL

and I swear if I hear one more time, "he's looking for a push partner" well you know what I mean, I mean the only thing ___er would be NASCAR on ICE, am I right?

They sometimes do average over 200mph for the whole lap. Sometimes it's around 190, it just depends on what's happening on that lap. Last Saturday night they were averaging laps at 206mph, so NASCAR slowed them down.

Keep watching and you may get into it. The best way to get into to it though is to go to a race. If a race is boring on tv, it's because the cameras and announcers are just following certain people. It's always exciting at the track. Indycar races are fun to attend also.

Sorry bud the statistics do not support that. I had my laptop on the coffee table and was watching every drivers specs. Only a handful if that hit 200 MPH top speeds. Interestingly enough the guy averaging the fastest times came in third at 199.336 MPH

Their top speeds may exceed 200 MPH however they would have to go 250 MPH to average out the 150 MPH to 200 MPH. Do you see what I am saying here, and no way in he11 are they going 250 MPH not even if you get a train of all 43 cars "pushing each other".

I'm not arguing I'm just a stickler for facts, please check out the result table

Lol, they aren't hitting 250, but they aren't dropping to 150 either. You can't watch the speed of the car and guess the average lap speed. There's a formula that gives you average speed that they are using. Here's you a calculator:

Speed Distance Time Calculators

Daytona is 2.5 miles and your link says Bayne's last lap was 45.585. Put the numbers into that calculator and tell me what the average speed is.

Are You Kidding Me

Fell asleep after the first 10 laps of todays Nationiwide short oval in the desert, here were the standings

1. K Busch
15. Mr. 500 ie Bayne
18. Donica Patrick

Woke up with 10 laps left

1. K Busch
17. Donica
31. Bayne

OK, how boring is that no one out of the 39 cars could pass the leader in 2 hours of racing

Donica moved up 1 spot, ONE SPOT

And Mr. I Won Daytona By Accident Bayne (right place at the right time) couldn't finish in the Top Ten in the Minor Leagues, how pathetic, I doubt he wins a race this year at any level, his Daytona Win will go down as a One Hit Wonder mark my words

Finally why are Pros if you will allowed to race with the Semi Pros if you will, that is not fare to the guys coming up, but it's NASCAR what do you expect

Well i'd say at least one person doesn't sound very happy about it :rlaugh:

I just figure, with all the decades of racing experience that was on the track that day, to see a wet behind the ears 20 year old win the race must be hard to watch.

AMEN, it's not hard to watch per say it just doesn't validate "skill" or experience I mean you could put a remote control car out there and tell it to run between the yellow lines and it would win one out of 100 races because everyone else would crash at one time or another.

Why not declare the guy who led the most laps the winner? Instead of the guy who wins the last lap, that's all it is, is the guy just happens to be pushed to the front in the end and he wins cause they are going in a circle. And why are lapped drivers allowed to stay on the track, get them the he!! out of there, especially that one dude going 5 MPH get off the track dude!

This is essentially why i don't watch NASCAR, because this is every race, every time. Skill plays a part, but only if nothing else gets in the way and there's a slew of things that will get in the way every time. I guess that's part of the appeal, but i would be frustrated to no end watching my favorite racer get spun out and wrecked by some rookie and then watch him go on to win.
