Aluminum is easy to stain, purple power will do it, sulfuric acid will do it, aluminum oxide soap will do. All it does is stain the surface, they're fine.

It's not just a stain, it's actually eating the surface. But if you clean it off well enough it's not terribly critical. Just don't do it to polished parts!

I know, but it generally only blackens raw aluminum. It'll wipe off with brake clean usually. I hate polished stuff so I wont worry about it.
