What belt are you using? Smog delete...

I have to get a belt for the 94.
The smog is gone.
I have seen the chart that suggests a 90.2" belt.

The formula for belt length does not equal to that, the only part numbers I get when using that length are for 90" or 90.5" belts.

What did you use when you deleted the smog?

The required belt length may vary slightly depending on the belt manufacturer so you may have to try more than one size and see which one fits best. The 6PK2290 should be very close.

I am going to start off with the 90" and see how that goes.

I went to Napa with my rachet and just went thru sizes out front til I found one the fell midway on the tensioner. Mines 89 and something. If you go to long it may max out the tensioner in short order and youll be back to get a shorter one. If I remember those belts ain't cheap either.

I would do that, but the car won't be able to drive to the parts house without a belt.

So you think an 89.5" belt might be a better first try?

I was going to get by the parts store today, but fell behind schedule when my son installed the engine mounts backwards, and set us back on time. To be fair, I have never had a Ford before with left and right specific engine mounts, so I wouldn't have caught it myself.

Hard telling... I do run a March pulley set. If your all stock pulleys then maybe grab a 90 & the next size under.. if I remember they come in 1/4 or 3/8 increments?
Murphy's law says you'll get the 90 and it'll be to long or the like... you know how that goes and you'll be headed back to the store....

I have an alternative solution that I've tried myself so I know it works perfectly. Remove the stock 3.0" pulley from the tensioner and replace it with an idler pulley from a 4.0L Jeep engine. The Jeep pulley is 3.5" in diameter and it allows you to use a 6PK2300 belt.

Well, we have belt.

The 90" would have worked perfectly, but I totally forgot about the larger alternator pulley on this car.

When I replaced the alternator a year or two ago, it had a larger pulley on it than the original.
The stock belt went back on, but very tight.
If the belt hadn't been worn in and stretched, it might not have fit at all.
I said what the heck, and left the larger pulley, but I forgot all about it until I tried to get the 90" belt on.
So, I went back and got a 91". The 90.5" might have worked, but I went straight to the sure thing, and it works great.
