Like actually has them on their car....right now, or HAD had them on a previous car.

Any reason why I can't put them on my car? I've got '95 brakes on all 4 corners with drilled/slotted rotors. I have a brake booster from @RacEoHolic330 that I can't use without cutting up my strut tower.

I can't run hydro boost because I wont have a PS pump.

So that leaves manual brakes. It'll be a 'street' car, but probably not driven too much in traffic.

@90lxcoupe @84Ttop @bentley429isBAC what do you have?

I have Baer brakes on my car with a 93 cobra MC and the factory power booster. I also use a vacuum canister to help the brakes out and so far it is working well. I may go manual some day, just to clear up some room in the engine bay. The plug closest to the booster is a serious PIA to get to. From what i have heard and read about manual brakes is that as long as the pedal ratio is right, then they work fine.

If/when i do go manual brakes ill call up maximum motorsports and get their kit.

Manual brakes are no problem. I have had them in several cars and when set up properly they work flawlessly. Be sure to read the instructions in the master cylinder kit to change the pedal geometry and you will be fine. I have a firm pedal in my mustang but it isn't hard to stop at all. I have aerospace brakes on all for corners fwiw. My buddy has stock 4 lug front brakes and aerospace rear discs and his car stops great with the manual conversion as well. I am using stanges master cylinder and no proportioning valve.

The key is sizing the MC along with pedal geometry right. Manual brakes have these different than their vac assisted counterparts.

The guys who complain how terrible manual brakes are usually just remove the booster and run their setup as is with a spacer block and no other changes

Oh Hai. Haz you been wondering same things recently?

Edit: I was just testing the water to see who actually has this. I know not everyone reads our build threads for fear of corrupting their fragile little minds.
I've got manual brakes on mine. Just finished them Tuesday actually.
Aerospace master, currently no prop valve and the altered pedal ratio.
I'll be putting my Wilwood prop valve on soon but it all works just fine as is.
Pedal is "stiff" but completely drivable.
It's exactly like power steering: People think manual steering is hell but only have broken power steering or looped hoses as a reference. I don't think you'd have any issues

I love manual steering. I just don't want to have to buy more crap than I have to. I bought the '95 booster from Scott thinking I was getting ahead, and here it is useless.

Strange front/rear manual conversion from race craft and re drilled the pivot point on the pedal. At first they felt a little spongy but after the break in period they got much better. Required a lot of bleeding and i may rebleed them once more since I have driven the car. The calipers seem to get a lot of air bubbles in them.

mines using stock 98 discs. Otherwise it was just the aerospace kit is all I needed. My flaming river rack is awesome, I saw you didn't have the u-joint you needed yet though.

both race cars have strange manual MC... turbo car has strange calipers (duals on the rear) and nitrous car has aerospace. the nitrous car has stopped from the upper 170's with no chute... turbo car has stopped from north of 180 with no chute.

no issues stopping for us

Little off topic but why stop from 170+ without a chute? I mean clearly you can but I'd think the added insurance at damn near 200 would be nice

My friend Walters 3340lb 93' vert has safely stopped from 157 plus mph with manual brakes. Aerospace front and Willwood rear disc. As far as using the chute....you don't have to use it, the rules require that you have one if the car is going 150 plus mph. I have seen Pro Stock boys run over 210 and not use a chute. It is one of those better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it things.

And there is always this Lol
the launcher chutes like whats on the nitrous car arent to bad. but the turbo car has the style with the spring packed in with it and its not the funnest thing to pack. with just 2 of us between rounds and an hour to get things ready its easier to just not pull it

I still have the stock disk brakes on the back with the Aerospace kit up front. I didn't install a proportioning valve, although I am strongly considering it. The car stops ok, but it dives a little. I think the rear calipers need more fluid volume. I don't want to do an Aerospace conversion the back because it means getting rid of the parking brake which is a little silly on a street car with a manual transmission.

Walters car has the Stroud chute with the big spring behind everything and I always get the chore of packing that thing if he uses it. He always seems to have something else to do at the time

he need to get a launcher! lol you use a ratchet or a drill with a spindle lock to turn a nut on the back and it pulls the spring in. then you put a pin across the spring. wrap the chute like normal and pull the pin.

air launchers are even easier

not to bad... i got rid of mine with the SVO brakes because they didnt work right. i just put it in gear
