RANT!!! What Not To Wear (if Your A Fox Mustang)

Yyyyep. I thank the Mustang Gods everyday that i still have power steering and air-conditioning.

It would have been much, much worse had I not had to move every couple of years and/or had a garage suitable for that kind of work. The base hobby shop is completely awesome to have but it's not really suitable for extended-stay work.

I STILL consider mounting a Steeda wing. lol
I dunno. I'm on an anti-power steering kick right now. I can't seem to find a pump that doesn't whine or leak, so I removed it and am currently driving with a powerless power rack. When funds allow, I'll go buy a manual rack.
....The A/C isn't going anywhere however.

It's definitely a dilemma for me. Fox power steering pumps suck dirty pond water. I however have done no power steering and hate it. There's got to be a better pump that could be used.

Strange how things work, my ps pump has 150k+ on it never a wimper, even when I put the new rack in, I use power steering fluid not trans fluid
Now my truck was a whiney b*tch when it got changed but quieted down after a few hundred miles again ps fluid not trans fluid, go figure.

When I was looking for my car, the biggest issue with almost every car for sale was the hack jobs done for "performance". I wanted a good driver, not something that was carbed, AC removed, pulleys and electric fans that don't work together (which my car did have), etc. It also amazes me how many people have 400+ HP dyno sheets, timing slips, and cars that can barely steer because the suspension is shot.

Sorry, but I may put a Saleen wing on my car.

My PS pump is frigging loud. It was quiet before I took off the underdrive pulleys. That's the most positive thing I'll probably ever say about underdrive pulleys.

On my truck, I bought a cheap rebuilt pump because of too much play in the pulley and it was louder than the one I replaced.

So the take away from the last couple of hours of replies are in fact...

"I wish I would've known better then,....If only somebody had given me a clue as to what was and what wasn't STUPID, I'd have never done it. Thank you for pointing that out now,.....I'm glad in advance that I won't put 4 honkin' holes in my hatch for the retarded looking wing thing that I'll have to fill in a few years or throw away all of the money on Chinese stuff that nobody will want when I don't."

Well, it's not my favorite, but I understand why people do it. Easy hp. I think someone who does do that to a mustang doesn't have any room to trash talk someone else for half assing something though. If you want to make a FORD Mustang go fast, doing it with a FORD motor- especially pushrod- Makes you the man.
Now I'm with ya on not liking LS swaps. I don't mind that at all. Though I find the reasoning a little silly, I've lost all interest in arguing it, especially on a Mustang forum. To each his own there. Where you lost me is how it equates to half-assing?

I think if the forum voted on how to mod a fox it would be:
60/40 coupe:hatch
large inch, NA, aftermarket block 8.2 (Although I'd lobby for a big assed stock block 9.5)
11r 205s
custom cam
aftermarket ECM
Tremec of some sort
built 8.8
Stock-ish interior
A/C, P/S, P/B
Staggered 17-in spoke-type wheels
Cobra brakes
Minimal body mods, some shade of black/blue

How far off am I?

Since there's like 4-5 things I don't care for on that list,I think you're right on the money :D

But if we're considering building a Forum Sponsored fox, I know a guy with a roller who will build whatever the hive decided/pays for

It's a matter of perspective, and doesn't surprise me in the least that people don't get it. Instead of spending the time and money building a Ford engine (what belongs in the car) that will make enough hp to compete with the opposition... just drop an LS in it. It's the easy way. The half assed way. Then, say something like "Brand loyalty is stupid." That makes it better..:nice:

If you don't agree, ( I know you don't) that's fine, there's a lot around here I disagree with.

Well then,.....what do you use as a gauge then?

So you're saying then that you don't like or dislike other peoples cars then?:bs:
The point wasn't about how you should feel about it, ...it's about how others perceive it.

Of course I like and dislike other people's cars, my point is that I know what I do and do not like so whatever people choose to do to their cars doesn't really affect me one way or the other. My "gauge" is what I know I like, again not caring what other people or a forum thinks about my own personal vehicle and it's modifications.

Ive learned not to get sucked into these debates, as misinformed as they may be. To each his own.
