GMP diecast no longer, new name.

I've actually had my eye out for one of the vermillion red LX's on ebay. I already own one, but trying to find a "cheap" one to customize. Paint it black, and find a set of 1:18 scale 2001 polished cobra wheels somewhere and make a mini version of my car. That would absolutely be worth it to me to do and probably the only one I would display. All the others I own are still in boxes carefully packed away. My kids would have a field day if they found those.

Just haven't seen one pop up at a good price yet. Unfortunately those ones have been climbing.

I made a replica of my old notch from a revell model. Just couldn’t find the correct pony wheels. I had to use the drag setup for the rear suspension to use the closest wheels that would match my car, or I would have had to use the 10 hole LX wheels. I think I posted a pic of this before. But here’s another one.

Tell me about it. The variety of little ones has jumped the last few years. The above is a series of 15 cars I believe. I just got a red one, but that's likely the end unless....

Haha, exactly. It's bad enough (but good, certainly) that there are so many high-end 1:18s coming out from GMP and otherwise.

15 months after preorder.....

Fairly limited runs.

Red one is #340 of 504
White is #473 of 474

So combined, less than 1k made.

I have the next run of 4 cars on preorder

Btw....price of Cobras has dropped, a lot. I saw a few teals sell in the $200 range. I'd imagine the fact that you can now preorder one for $135 might have something to do with it

Latest releases. First release had gray interior. These latest version have black interior

#716 of 750 black
#53 of 762 red
#413 of 798 teal

Comparing the 2006 built cobra vs 2019...the older one is much better quality. Fit and finish is better. On the new ones, the steering binds, interior trim is misaligned, bigger gaps in doors and hood, and one door stuck open on me.

Color is darker on the new one as well

Got mine the other day too! I sold my old teal one to basically trade for the whole matching set now. I didn't notice any of the build issues you mentioned on mine, except the steering. That's pretty damn rough, I've never seen that on any of GMP/Acme builds models before.

Check out the last pic of the two teal CObra's i posted. It's more apparent in person, but if you look at the gaps along the door, and the window frame, and the hatch to body, the gaps are definitely tighter on the older model. It's bit more obvious when you have them side to side. Look at the window frame on the one on the right and it looks like the top is sagging. Still a nice model though.

Home improvement GT is in the mail as we speak
