1977 302 air cleaner assembly question

I have a 1977 Mustang II w/302 that I am reassembling. I’m looking for information on the flex duct hoses that attach. I’ve included pics below. There is an oval hose that comes off the end of the air cleaner assembly, where would that exit? The oval cutout in the apron as pictured? Any idea where I can get that flexible oval hose? It measures at approx 4x2.

Second question, it has another flex hose that runs from the bottom of the air cleaner arm. I’m not sure where it routes to? The pics I’ve found just show it routing down next to the engine block but don’t show where it terminates.

For those that will suggest that I not use the setup, I’m required to have it setup per the original configuration if I want to pass Illinois emissions.

It's been a LONG time since I've seen a stock set-up with the snorkel hose, but I THINK, by looking at the pic you shared and other pics on the internets, that there might be another plastic "box" that you'll need. It sits on top of the battery cooling box in the front corner and grabs fresh air from the same place. I mean it's really hard to tell from pics, it COULD be a completely different air box than what you have too. But in the pic of your car, the place where it looks dry and has a hole in the box - that kinda looks like there was some kind of mounting tab there, it has a square-ish look to it. I'd say your best bet would be to get a hold of one of the used II vendors like Phil Schmidt. He might even have what you're looking for if that's what you need. As far as the snorkel hose goes, I think it's been longer still that I've seen one of those! They usually ended up not being replaced or would get raggedy over time so most people threw them out. This is probably the closest I've been able to come across googling for a snorkel hose. https://johnsmustang.com/products/1...ntake-hose-v8-rh-or-lh?variant=25082585972800 I dunno if it would work at all given that the one side is round, but I think the first order of business would be figuring out exactly how the one end hooks up - if it's round or rectangular or what. You might be able to improvise if you can get that figured out. But I don't know if any emissions official will knock you for not having it or what. I mean it really doesn't mean much when it comes to emissions, your engine will just be fed warmer air than it would if you had it.

The hose on the underside connects to a heat riser on the exhaust manifold. It's sole purpose was to warm the incoming air to open the choke faster. Again, probably not a huge deal, but I can see it being a bigger deal with emissions than the snorkel tube since it can affect the air/fuel ratio during warm ups. The heat risers attached at the exhaust manifolds were basically just sheet metal heat shields, one with a hose attachment like these that were from an older Cougar with a 351w. They could probably be used although they won't be considered "original."

Hope this helps a little!

Great information, thank you very much!

that kinda looks like there was some kind of mounting tab there,

My battery vent box '77 AC. will need cute little clips to put back
Hole busted in it

More importantly AC line routing

My heat shield for pass. side bolts to manifold, bottom round flex hose from air cleaner snorkel goes to this.
back bolt hole cracked off
front bolt hole rusted off
but can see tabs where used to be

Thanks to everyone for all of the help. Based on your information and pics, I was able to find the parts. I’ll post pics here. Unfortunate thing is, I’m using Hedman headers so I’m not sure how to install the manifold heat shield that the snorkel hose attaches to.

Years ago there was a sheet metal apparatus available with a round flange that mounted to one header tube using two hose clamps.you could possibly find one or fab one.
