    part swaping for 5.0 conversion?

I'm familiar with the 50oz made for v-groove pulleys, but I'm trying to understand the pros/cons of electric/mech fuel pumps and v/serpintine belts. I like the idea of using the 5.0 clutch with a new rotary A/C compressor. I'm not worried about modifying the radiator...the guy who's selling...

    part swaping for 5.0 conversion?

A friend has an 87 Mark VII with 58k miles. It runs, and he wants $850 for the car. So I'm thinking about replacing my 289, which needs head work. I'd like to know what I can move over from the 289. Will my 289 distributor [w/ pertronix] work with a 5.0 cam gear? If not, how do i hook up...

How much to mill Edelbrock heads

why not use 58cc? I'm in the same boat... I want to replace my stock 54.5cc iron heads with AFR 165cc. I have a 2-barrel engine that only has 9.3:1. If I go with the 58cc head, I'm expecting to go down to 9:1 or maybe 8.9:1. Eitherway, I dot want to modify the heads because eventually I...

    what stall speed for me?

where are you located? two months ago, i bought a 24-spline 3000-3500 10" from BTE Racing in Memphis, but my 289 is having valve issues and im going to drop in a stock 5.0 long block. I may want to go back back to my stock converter, since ive been told the 3500 is a lot for a stock 5.0 i...

    new heads? or new engine?

Thanks for the info. I'm not looking forward to spending more money on the tranny, and still have the stock-rpm converter. Its in great condition (only a few years old) and has only been on the shelf for a few months. If i dont keep the 3500, ill go back to the stock conveter

    new heads? or new engine?

Sorry... With the 5.0 swap... I would need the balancer/flywheel/waterpump conversion, but what I'm mainly worried about is straining the engine on the freeway (3400rpm seems like a lot for a roller cam).

    new heads? or new engine?

The heads on my 289 have to be replaced because one of the valve seats loosened up, and i really dont feel like putting any more money into stock heads. I'd like to know if you guys recommend i get new heads, or a 5.0 with 50-75k miles. I dont want to change the transmission or the...

    Stainless trim spiff-up, anyone?

I had Dave Turner in Fresno, CA polish up all my stainless. He does top notch repair work too (for dents and tears). He might be under Turner Construction in the phone book, cant remember if thats him of not, but my window frames look shinnier than a rapper's wheels.

    Collapsable Steering Column Options

Jester67: IMHO the old collapsible column form the late 60’s is not any better than having some universal links in the shaft that should bind and break in an impact. Could you please explain what you mean? I'm not sure I understand. Also, the column it pulled has a rubber flange...

    Collapsable Steering Column Options

well, a guy in town was parting out a 68 falcon futura. it had a collapsible column, so i pulled it out. looks like the issues i will have to address are removing the column shifter, securing the upper section to the cowl and dash, and wiring the turn signals up. can anyone explain to me...

    Collapsable Steering Column Options

I just moved up to the Napa wine country, and it seems like everyday there is a story about someone getting killed in a head-on collision. Aside from avoiding the Yuppies and Hippies, I'd also like to lessen the likelyhood of the "death spear" from my stock steering column. I just want to...

    Low compression performance

i know of several 'long-rod' windsor motors that ran on pump gas, even with high static compression. you should check out the long rod mustangs plus put in one of their cars. having a longer connecting rod can allow for high static compressions due to the fact that the rod length change...

Howz digital ignition better than analog?

yeah, i guess i forgot about those two extra exhaust stokes. PAZUR: since it sounds like you dont know whether or not to spend $200 on the fancy version, you're probably like me and cant buy every shiny thing at the parts store. if my assumption is true, then there are probably other parts on...

Howz digital ignition better than analog?

Look up the spec sheets for both MSD boxes. The digital is more likely to have extra features, since its easy to program functions into a digital processor. As far as digital electrical signals vs analog electrical signals, there shouldn't be much difference. At 6000RPM, each cylinder is...

    Highest lift with pressed-in studs??

This is on the same topic as the thread about me wiping out a cam lobe. Whats the max lift I should use in an engine with pressed-in studs? My valve spring specs: Max Net Lift w/.060'' Clearance: 0.560'' Seat Pressure: 98 lbs. @ 1.700'' seat, 260 lbs @ 1.200'' open Coil Bind: @ 1.080'' Rate...

Anyone running a Comp Nostalgia Cam?

271 lobe: 112 XE256H: 110 I like the idea of the 271 rough idle, but i just dont know if that cam is going to lack on the bottom end. especially since i have a stock converter. Thanks for the info/video. Sounds like open exhaust?
