A friend has an 87 Mark VII with 58k miles. It runs, and he wants $850 for the car. So I'm thinking about replacing my 289, which needs head work.
I'd like to know what I can move over from the 289. Will my 289 distributor [w/ pertronix] work with a 5.0 cam gear? If not, how do i hook up the ignition module?
Any recommendations on fuel pumps? 7psi? Is a regulator necessary?
Pros and cons of v-belt vs serpentine? The dampner is probably the same price as a new 5.0 alternator/waterpump/steeringpump
I'm going to keep the 289 oil pan, oil-pump pickup, carb, intake, and long-tube headers. I'll buy a Lokar oil drip stick, flexplate, and radiator with driver-side output. I'll pull his AOD for a core when gas reaches $10/gallon, until then, the C4 will do.
I thought about buying 58cc AFR 165cc, but I'd still have a 289 and the compression would be 8.9:1. I'd rather have a roller cam, more cubes, and forged pistons. Maybe 165cc with an E303 down the road.

Got the bolt count on the damper wrong on my part.
