    Engine Is My Temperature Normal

The engine was off when the gauge went up, that was the first time I ever saw that. The radiator did sit empty for 5 months during the engine rebuild. The lengthy story of the build is here: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/91blckgts-about-time-progress-thread.893470/ I was...

    Engine Is My Temperature Normal

So I'm doing some final shakedown drives after a multi-month rebuild. It's now a fully built H/C/I with AFR heads. I had to replace the TFI module due to heat soak, and relocated it to the fenderwell. I did some surface guage temperature tests tonight after driving it to temperature for...

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

So I think I may have *fingers crossed* solved my stalling problem. Got a new motorcradft TFI module, and I picked up the McCully Racing Motors relocation kit. Moved the TFI module and a big-ass heat sink over to the passenger fender, where it can suck up some fresh air. I took the car out...

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

I'm confident that's not the case, because I didn't remove it when I pulled the lower intake, been the same thermostat for 10 years, and I know it works, I did a one hour run down check of the car, and watching with the lisle funnel I could see it open and close through the rising / dropping...

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

So I think this it he problem: http://www.autosafety.org/1983-1995-fordlincolnmercury-ignition-module-stalling/ While I have a new motorcraft TFI sitting in a box now (it came today, ironically), I just ordered this relocation kit, hopefully to reduce the heat soak that's killing these TFI's...

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

This: https://goo.gl/photos/ttZybWVu5bVdKjhX7 Car died halfway to the gas station. I had finished two days of shakedown, but once again the heat got to the "M" in normal (I need a better heat gauge) and had to have it towed back to my house for another tear down. I got impatient waiting for...

Engine Tune-up Feedback: Is It Ready For A Drive?

The vapor seemed to disappear after the car warmed up. It does have cats in the Bassani x-pipe. Now the garage reeks of burnt oil. Hadn't noticed it during the idle marathon. I need to figure out how long to keep the break-in oil in the car. The instructions state around ~500 miles, but...

Engine Tune-up Feedback: Is It Ready For A Drive?

Well, I took it around the block a few times, just wanted to get a feel for what it would be putting down now. it felt pretty good, pulled hard in the upper RPM unlike where it used to fall off. Broke the tires loose a couple of times, but then it is 55 degrees outside and my drag radials are...

Engine Tune-up Feedback: Is It Ready For A Drive?

After an hour of steady state running, I think I've finished burping the radiator successfully .No leaks that I can see under the car, but I'd like this forums collective feedback on these photos/videos to make sure everything is tip-top. I have a new TFI module on order, but the car hasn't...

Where To Buy Genuine Motocraft Tfi Modules?

I found one at the local Ford dealer too. $89, but then adding on shipping/handling/tax it came out to the same price... Hopefully this will take care of my latest problem.

Where To Buy Genuine Motocraft Tfi Modules?

So I read several threads that had the "car ran for 5 minutes then died" problem that sounds exactly like my problem. And the solution each time was to buy a new motorcraft TFI module, because all the aftermarket ones are junk. Well I checked 4 different online stores that specialize in...

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

I made it around the block, keeping the RPM to 2000 or so. Then I revved it up to 4000 RPM in my driveway. And it died. ARGH. Now it won't start again. Oil pressure was good, no funky sounds, nothing obvious leaking, but the temperature was creeping up Ideas?

91blckgt's "about *&$# Time" Progress Thread

So it turns out I'm an absolutely :poo:ty judge of TDC. Got the compression test kit, and I figured I'd do one last "For the hell of it" stab of the distributor, but would turn it exactly 180 degrees from 0 TDC on the balancer instead of testing for where the piston was in the engine. Mind you...

Crank -> Cam Timing Chain Alignment Question.

ahahahahahahhahahahash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had managed to put the freaking distributor backwards not once, not twice, not three times, but FOUR FREAKING TIMES! Before I did the compression test I figured "what the hell, might as well flip it around and see what happens"... See the video...

Crank -> Cam Timing Chain Alignment Question.

Awesome. I can't start the car, and have tried stabbing the distributor a multitude of ways and positions. Hopefully tonight i'll get some spare time to check out the compression.

Where Is The Engine Block Ground?

Ugh, so sorry about the leak! Been there done that... make sure you use teflon sealant on the bolts when you put them back in. I had to buy new bolts from LMR mine were so rusted out when I finished the rebuild. BTW, if you are curious what sort of problems I'm facing with my...

Crank -> Cam Timing Chain Alignment Question.

Here's a final view showing the location of the #1 piston, as I was first sliding on and test fitting the cam timing chain and crank sprocket. Nothing here looks visually out of place, just wanted to rule this out before I go crazy down debugging paths.

Crank -> Cam Timing Chain Alignment Question.

Here's a picture showing where the intake and exhaust valves were on cylinder one, and as you can see the #1 piston was at TDC, nearly same as the #6 piston.

Crank -> Cam Timing Chain Alignment Question.

I'm about to pull my car back apart and verify everything, but I wanted to share this picture first and see if there is any possibility that I screwed up this basic part of the installation. I installed the cam with the locator dowel facing 6:00, and as you can see in the picture, the...
