Rod bearings different depending on year?

Hi guys I recently ordered a set of rod bearings for my 01 GT. I received the bearings a couple of days ago and the package says Ford 4.6l V8 SOHC 1991-98 I know the Romeo 4.6l was introduced in 91. Did the bearings change at all or are they all the same for 4.6l? I did a search on...

Are those difficult to replace? Like I said, I've never done any work on the steering components.

    Leaky tie rod boots?

While I was dropping my kmember I noticed my tie rods are in pretty bad shape. I knew I was losing steering fluid somewhere.I kept having to fill it up. I'm not sure what it was, but either grease or steering fluid was gushing out of the inner tie rod boots all over the floor! I've never...

Are these bearings spun? need help (w/ pics)

Thanks guys! Well I only have the rod caps out. The other half of the rod is still in the engine. I'm doing everything with the engine inside the car. The cap looks just fine on the inside. Also the outer part of the bearings look fine as well. It's just the parts that face the crank that...

Are these bearings spun? need help (w/ pics)

But the scarring is a sure sign of a spun bearing right? It looks like someone took a knife and scarped pieces of the bearing off. I just thought it was weird that the bearings that were scratched up were also loose and the others weren't.

Are these bearings spun? need help (w/ pics)

Aren't the bearings supposed to be firmly attached to the rod cap? As soon as they become loose that's it..they're spun, right? All other caps had their bearings attached very tightly. I couldn't even budge them. But how do the bearings get that worn if the crank journal isn't? I mean...

Are these bearings spun? need help (w/ pics)

Hey guys, I've been hearing a ticking/knocking sound coming from the bottom end of my engine. Just today I finished removing the kmember and oil pan to check the carnage. I suspected a spun rod bearing. I removed 3 rod caps. The rod bearing on the first rod cap I removed came out...

    Do I have a T45 or T3650?

Hey guys I have an 01 GT. I know that Ford put the T3650 sometime during the 2001 instead of the T45. I had the transmission out and was looking for something on the tranny housing but couldn't find anything except for "Tremec". I pulled the little metal tab that's bolted to the house...

4.6l out of a thunderbird in a stang?

Hey guys, I'm stationed overseas in Germany and now have a spun bearing in my 01 gt. Getting an engine over here is hard. But now I found a 4.6l out of a 92-93ish (sometime in that range) out of a Thunderbird. Would it be a good idea to swap it over to my supercharged 01? I would swap...

    Need help with spun bearing

Hey guys My engine most likely has a spun bearing so I will have to replace it or get a new engine. I've only torn apart a Chevy 350...never done internal work. Would you advise me to tackle it myself or just get a new engine? How hard is it? Time-consuming? I'm really at a...

    New shortblock..which company?

Hey guys My engine's f'd up...probably a spun bearing. Which companies offer shortblocks with the best prices? I'm not looking to get anything overbuilt with forged everything. I'm stationed overseas in Germany so I can't find any at a junkyard etc. Which companies do you guys...

    Rod/Main bearings...help!

Damn...that's it then. Well, I'm stationed in Germany so getting an engine is not that easy. I did find an 03 shortblock. Swapping everything over to the shortblock would probably be easier than having the crank taken to get a regrind etc.

    ? about transmission install

Hmm..the crossmember should line it up. Isn't the crossmember symmetrical? I know it's sort of an illusion that the tranny doesn't sit right because the tranny has a groove that slants down right above where the crossmember sits. But you said the driveshaft hugs the right side of your...

    Cant get tranny out!!

Not sure if it is connected but it makes it easier. Use a prybar to get the tranny off. It's still attached with 2 dowel pins. With the prybar(use it carefully though as not to hit the clutch etc) it'll easily break loose.

    Rod/Main bearings...help!

Damn. I can't even change the rod bearings with the engine still in? I'm hoping it might just be a main cap that's a bit loose. But the way my luck has been I doubt it. The car has a Vortech SC at about 8 pounds of boost. It dynoed at about 415 at the flywheel. I think the car was...

    Rod/Main bearings...help!

Hey guys, Turns out either my rod or crank bearings could be toast. I get this very loud ticking sound coming from my block/tranny. At first I thought it was the tranny for sure. Well after I swapped the tranny today and made sure the exhaust was tight I still get the noise. Tomorrow...
