    So if I understand you correctly a '67-73 427/428 toploader will bolt up behind a 69-73 429/460 bellhousing? The input shaft splines, diameter and length will all work together. But a 390 may not? Thanks for all your replies.

    What causes the battery light to be on?

    This sounds like a loose connection or intermittent short. trace all wiring goin to from the alt. and battery to make sure it is all in good shape again (no holes or cracks in wiring), make sure that everything is attached tightly and clean, not corroded. Then do the same with the grounds.

    no mufflers

    I have been running no mufflers for almost 3 yrs on stock H pipe, no problems. I think it sounds brutal, really sick at WOT. Even the the service manager at the Ford dealer said it sounded good when I brought it in for an alignment. Little rough on the ears when cruising at 70 though.
