im running d0oe 351 heads on my current engine. i reseated the valves (valve gring and drill) myself. the heads do not have hardened seats, and i have been using a lead additive. so far i have over 200 miles on engine with no problems.
so... should it be safe using just the additive or am i...
there may be some up and down play on a couple but its not alot lot. maybe 1/32"
some of the plungers are up and others are down.
i see what you are saying, and im probally going to at least run the engine with these pushrods to see what happens.
valves have to be adjusted on chevys, so...
i have a 88 roller shortblock, with D0oe 351 heads, and tfs stage1 cam that i am building. when the valves are closed the rocker arms have a little side-to-side play.... is this normal for stud mounted rockers, or do i need longer pushrods?
my 86 short block had flat tops, so i got another engine, thinking they would have releafs, but they are dished.
i guess if i have problems i'll just run a tick head gasket and a shim
i bought a 5.0 out of 87 lincoln town car, assuming that the pistons had valve releafs. but after pulling the heads i find out they are dished with no releafs. to my suprise the engine has a roller cam:nice: .
so..... can i use d0oe 351 heads (stock valves) with a tfs stage1 cam without...
i have 4cyl. springs on my car and with 205/60/15 i had about a 2"-3" gap in the front and a 3"-4" gap in the back(215/60/15) . im getting ready to cut a coil off the rear, to try and level it out.
also... camaro t5s bolt to the bellhousing at a 15* angle, and "must be set at an angle to luberacate properly" (according to some camaro book my friend has) but i think it will work just fine straight up.
on a stock motor you probally lost some low end power, i know i did. to me, it seems like i can hear the engine, itself, alot more than i could with shorties. but i'll never go back to shorties, just because its alot easier to remove the mid-pipe.
you should be fine as long as you keep it moving. i used to drive my tbirdsc (5spd) in the snow alot and never had any problems, as long as i stayed away from back roads.... but yeah, some added weight will help
i think it will be fine without the strainer, (i didnt have one in my '86) as long as you keep the tank clean (lol, they may not be logical). the pump should have a screen in it anyway.
but if you ever have any fuel problems, you'll know where to look.
