    alternator placement '71 302

My car has a 71 302 in it. I realize that it is hard to see, and does not really show what you need to see, but this is the best pic that I have. The alternator mounts into the pass side head, and runs off the middle crank pulley. My belt runs up the right side of the crank, over the top of...

    AOD install ???'s

A lot of times on the tranny swaps, you have to take the shift arm off of the transmission and put it on upside down in order to get the shift pattern right. I have an AOD sitting here ready to go in a car, and it looks like that is what needs to happen.

    Need tuning help... please?

God, I am an idiot. I was concentrating so hard on trying to accurately describe the problem, I forgot the facts. It's a 1973 302 with an autolite 2100. All bone stock.

    Need tuning help... please?

I just put a new carb on my car and I have been trying to dial it in. I just can't seem to find the right adjustment. It runs great when it is cold... but as it warms up, it starts to backfire in the exhaust. I have tried making it richer and leaner, but both directions seem to make it worse...

    Loctite?

If you heat up the loctite with a propane torch or a lighter, then use 6 point sockets to unscrew it, you will not screw up your bolt or nuts.

Need help bad. Power Steering pump Q's.

My water outlet is also on the passenger side. My problem is that whoever put this engine together used whatever parts they had laying around, so I have a mix-match of parts from 69-73. I don't think I even have a complete pump setup for anything other than a 289. I have a set of inner...

Need help bad. Power Steering pump Q's.

I have a 65 fastback that I am trying to retrofit power steering into. I have aquired a power steering setup off of a 65 coupe. It all went together pretty well, except.... my car does not have the original 289. It has a 302 from about 1973. The problem is that the power steering pump...

    Quick head gasket question

I am reassembling a 72 302 for my stang. I just noticed that the head gaskets that I have only have openings at the rear of the heads for the water ports... the water ports at the front are blocked off. Can anyone tell me if this is correct before I put this thing all back together?

    Cutting the coils

Yes, I know that. When the engine was in the car, it sat too high, so I put in the drop coils. Once I have the engine back in, then I will decide if the coils helped... and I wish I could go from a 289 to a 429.... preferably in a Boss! -Toby

    Cutting the coils

Thanks for the advice guys. Since the overwhelming feeling was to not cut the springs, I went out and got a set of 1 inch drop springs. I have them in, but also have the steering and engine out of the car, so I can't really tell the difference right now, but once I get it back together...

    Cutting the coils

I want to cut my front coils to improve the stance of my 65. I would like to drop it an inch to an inch and a half. Does anyone have any suggestions on how much coil to cut so that I don't have to take these things in and out several times?

    Cleaning the Headliner

Anybody have any good ideas for cleaning a white headliner? It is not real dirty, but does have a few noticeable dirty spots. I have tried regular dish soap without much success. Since it is 40 years old, I really don't want to use anything too harsh, any suggestions would be appreciated.
