    Ignition switch wiring question

Tom, If you have one I could use it. I know that the 64.5 - 66 are different. It would need to be a 67, I think the 68 is different also. Let me know if you come up with anything. Thanks

    Ignition switch wiring question

Several years ago some MF looser stole my stang:mad: When I got it back they had trashed the ignition switch. So I put in a universal one. Now I want to put back in a stock one. I have a new switch but I can't find anyplace that sells the plug or whatever you call it that plugs into the back of...

    dashboard electrical question

making progress I got the switch out and using the diagram from Tim65GT I did some tests. With the switch out of the car I used the multi meter (I'm still learning about it). With it set on Ohms to test for resistance, I put one lead and D1 and one on D2 when I turned the switch all the way...

    dashboard electrical question

Tim, Thanks for the Diagram that will definitely help. I assume that it applys to a 67 I notice you have a 65. If that doesn't help me test it nothing will. BTW where did you find that diagram? As far as the Aux mostly I'll be running a cell phone charger, which doesn't draw much and once in a...

    dashboard electrical question

I figured that the + had something to do with it. I don't know why I did not check my shop manual first. But now if anyone else on the forum needs the info it will be there. Only problem now is I don't seem to have a screwdriver wide enough and I think the switch has been removed already, the...

    dashboard electrical question

headlight switch As I mentioned I did check the fuses previously but I'll check them again. I'm thinking that it's the switch. Is there a trick to taking it out. I tried some channel locks on the bezel. Does it screw off? I did not want to scratch up the bezel with the channel locks.

    Rust on hood

after sanding Thanks for everyones input. The rust was not very thick so I started out with sandpaper. Here are photos of how far I got. I think some more sanding will get rid of the rest of the rust. It's been a while since I've done paint and body. I've some fillers that sprays, but I...

    oil pressure question

I still have the original guages in place so I'm not sure of the accuracy. I notice that often my oil pressure runs about 3/4 of the way towards high. Is this anything to be concerned about? I'm curious about what factors affect the oil pressure? I'm trying to attach a photo of the guage but...

    Starter won't disengage

I think you need to check the things that spirockp mentioned. But even though the odds are slim if the new starter was a rebuilt/remanufactured they can be bad also. Just one more thing to consider.

    running water instead of antifreeze

From what I've heard straight water is not a good idea, something with rust/corrosion protection is a good idea. As far as research goes here are a few items to check out. http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Articles/Cooling/Cooling_Suggestions/...

Is my horn sucking my battery or could it have been the old battery cables.

I'm not sure how to do it with a meter, something to do with testing without the horn connected and then connect the horn and watch for a draw of power. I just don't know where you would connect the meter. But as I mentioned before know that you know the battery holds charge overnight, now hook...

need a good shop in san diego

Congrats on finding the problem. Thats what these forums are for. BTW I noticed you have the same type of inline mesh screen in the upper radiator hose that I have. I got mine so long ago I don't remember what it its called or where I got it. Do you remeber where you got yours and what it's called?

need a good shop in san diego

Let me understand this correctly. You charged the battery, but you did not say exactly when you reconnedted the battery back. Lets assume you put it back in right before you tried to start the car. If it acts like the battery is dead your either have a started that is on its way out or you dont...

need a good shop in san diego

One more thing I forgot. if car won't start the next morning after a new battery or charging it up you may have a short or open wire that is drawing a charge. Test the battery in the AM after it won't start and see if the battery has been sucked dead

need a good shop in san diego

If your car does start and run I would think the fuel and spark are not the issue. It seems like an electrical problem and in addition to what everyone else said I would consider checking the starter. Definetly check it before you get a new one. If you can take off an alternator you can take...
