    5.0 Waterpump rotation?

I used a 5.0 out of a 86 Gran Marquis. It has a wide drive belt, actually 2 of them, 1 driving the AC, and 1 driving the alt, power steering pump, and water pump. I think that it is "normal" rotation water pump, but from what I have read, the 5.0 engines have reverse rotation water pumps. I have...

    Really Dumb rear end question

Ok, I swapped out the rear end in my efi v8 conversion 66 to a 8" from a maverick. I was just given (0 cost) a "N" 9" 3rd member with 31 splines and a factory posi unit. I know I will have to change axles due to the splines, but will a 9" 3rd member fit into a 8" housing? I really like the width...

    Motorsport EFI Wiring question

Ok, lazy me, I purchased a Motorsport EFI harness for my conversion. Got just about everything else done, now just finishing up the last of the wiring. Thought I had gotten everything connected and found a wire with a terminal on it. After checking the instructions, it should connect to "20...

    Upside down Mass Air???????

I built a custom bracket to mount the mass air sensor on my 66 5.0 conversion. A friend of mine saw it and told me that you must mount the sensor with the plug up. I can make a new bracket without a whole lot of trouble, but I like the way it looks now. Can you mount the sensor in any direction...

    bedliner coating in trunk?

Brush on bed liner I used brush on bed liner for all of my undercoating after stripping down the entire underneath. It looks much better and seems to be very tough. No problems yet. The brush on stuff even smooths out well, not showing the brush marks.

    convert single to dual reservoir

Most Mavericks have drum/drum brakes. The hardware bolts in without mods. Some bending will be required for the brake lines to re-attach. I would swap out the fruit jar master cylinder for safety sake if nothing else. Total cost of swap is cheap, and can make all the difference in the world when...

    pinholes in floor

Pin Hole Help I have just finished a complete scrub and cleaning of my 66, which included floor replacement. I had a few small (note small holes, not floor mat size) holes here and there which would have required even more sheet metal replacement. Since I am putting together a daily driver (ok...

    Maverick Power Steering in 66??

I have searched the forum, found nothing, so here goes: I have converted from the I6 to a V8. The suspension has been swapped, the front disks and rear 8' from a 74 Maverick. While at it in the junk yard, I removed the power assist assembly from the maverick as well. Any one out there ever...

    FREE ROTISSERIE PLANS

I have just completed some plans for a rotisserie I built to work on my 1966 coupe. The plans are CAD with plenty of pics and in a pdf format. If you would like to host the file on your site please e-mail me. I would ask for everyone who would like a set to e-mail me and I would send you a copy...

Fuel return question for fuel injected 66

I am ready to put a 5.0 fuel injected engine in my 66. I had already planned to add the return line to the fuel sender plate by brazing in a tube. I had seen this in another conversion article I found while researching the swap. I read a few days ago about someone on the forum that they added...

    Shock Tower Measurements

I have read and heard that the shock towers on early mustangs tend to start leaning inwards due to normal road wear and tear. Several sites list using a porta power to spread these back into position. Anyone ever heard of this and if so, what are the correct measurements and where do you...

    Shock tower question.

I've heard a lot about the early mustang shock towers leaning inwards from usual road wear and tear. Several sites list checking them, and spreading them into proper position using a porta power. Can anyone tell me what the measurements should be to check by and just where to measure them? I...
