Keep My 65 Or Go Late Model

I have owned an 01 vertGt and I now own a 07 v6 Mustang. I Also own a 66 which I have had for 13 years. The 66 has served as a daily driver on and off during that 13 years, and at a few times it was my only means of transportation. I could drive a Yugo as long as the 66 is waiting form me in...

    AC refrigerant question.

R134a in a R-12 system is a no-no. R-134a uses a polyester oil, while R-12 uses a mineral oil. If you mix R-134a with mineral oil it will foam your oil and wipe your AC compressor bearings pretty quick. There are some kits that supposedly neutralize the effect. I haven't tried one in a long...

    Interesting Key find

Yeah back then, who knows. It could have something to do with the fact that my dad ordered the car while he was stationed in Japan, and it was delivered once he got back to the states. (43 years is a long time to own one car.:) ) It came original with a 289 while most, I believe had the 390 or...

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

Cutting the car was/is a hard decision. I hope I don't regret doing it if I do go this route. My 66 is nothing rare, however, and I have no plans of ever selling the thing. More pics of the GR350: http://www.performanceautosport.com/detail.asp?car=5900

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

This was originally a double post, but I found this link to a pic of a SN95 spindle albeit on a fox mustang. http://www.hotrod.com/projectbuild/113_0502_1984_mustang_gt/suspension.html

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

Don't hold me to it but if I remember correctly, the R&P is from a SN95. I pretty sure the spindles and hubs are as well. The spindles have an adapter to convert from McPherson strut to a SLA. (I think) This is part of why I am seriously considering this kit. I could buy 04 Cobra rotors...

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

Don't get me wrong I don't have deep pockets either, but talking it over with Mrs. 01ragtop, we decided that between the engine currently planned and the better suspension we'll go with the suspension. It already has a decent 302, but I wanted a 347. In a perfect world I would get both, but I...

    Interesting Key find

Okay maybe not that interesting, but I thought it was an unusual. A guy I work with is an old school locksmith. We got to talking about my car one day, and the next day he brought in these key blanks he had on the shelf in his personal shop. He told me that all the keys back then were made by...

Kick panel speakers - intereferes with clutch operation?

I don't have kick panels in mine right now and there isn't much room. My only thought about driving, however, is this: can you get to the high beem switch? If so I really don't think it is going to be an issue.

    Seriously Considering the Griggs Gr350

I know, I know $$$$$. I called Griggs Racing yesterday to ask some questions about the Gr350. The very nice lady in sales didn't know all of the answers so she transferred me to the tech dpt. I asked tons of questions, and gave him my overall goals for the car. The Tech guy ended up being...

    Longevity of 408 Stroker

I was never dead set on the 408. It was reccomended to me by Coast HIgh Performance. I did a lot of searching and reading over at SBF before I posted a question similar to the first post in this thread, and it turns out I can reach my stated goals, and have engine longevity with the...

    Longevity of 408 Stroker

Thanks for the link. I have learned a ton over there so far, and they have just about talked me out of a 408 all together. Starting to look like a 347 is in my future.

Let me see some modified early mustangs

Shakin66, Nice ride. My 66 was my high school car as well, but no where near as nice as yours. How do you like the remote shifter? What brand is it?

    Longevity of 408 Stroker

I am finally getting to my 66 coupe, and while I currently have a 302 with about 10,000 miles on it under the hood, I would like to drop in a 408 stroker. I got a price estimate from Coast High Performance: $9,000 with 2yr/24,000 mile warranty. The engine is blueprinted and balanced with a steel...

storing an engine what to do

You can remove the Dist and buy a shaft to turn the oil pump with a drill. This will get the pressure up. On top of that you can turn the engine ( at the crank) a turn and a half about every month or so to keep the rings from getting stuck.

Soon to be New 07 Owner

Congrats on the car! I too bought a 2007 pony package. I use it for my daily Driver, and for that it is great. It does lack a little power compared to the 01 GT I traded in, but it is still fun to drive. And besides, I have a 1966 mustang with a bored and stroked 302 in the garage that...
