    any tire shop employees?

How old are these tires in terms of years, not miles?

DIY gear installers, rear end guys... chime in.

Using FRPP gears is a VERY wise choice. With these, it is VERY possible that by simply changing them out and keeping the same shims in the same locations, you will check the pattern and backlash and they will be very close or more likely, spot on. Good luck and be safe.

DIY gear installers, rear end guys... chime in.

It is not rocket science, although compared to changing oil it could be considered so. You do indeed need to know EXACTLY what you are doing and exactly what to check and don't take a chance and not check things. Make SURE that you check backlash and pattern before putting everything back...

    Plugs?

For a stocker, use the exact Motorcraft replacement and don't settle for anything less. Don't leave them in over 50k miles at most.

checkin spark plugs with removing fuel rails?

The use of copper based anti sieze is NOT for the purpose of preventing thread siezure. It is for the purpose of transferring heat. If you choose to use it, use a THIN coat and DO NOT get it on the business end of the plug, on the threads only. Regardless of your choice to use or not use...

    Spark Plugs..need it asap

The splitfire is snake oil. Multiple electrodes have been hyped for years. They are just stuff to sell. No matter how many electrodes are on a spark plug, electricity takes the path of least resistance. This mean that the spark will jump ONLY on one of the electrodes at a time. In some...

Heavy vibration at speeds about 50 mph. What could the problem be?

I will not so much as LOOK under ANY car to inspect the driveshaft for a road vibration complaint until I have checked the tires. The tires are THE most common cause of vibrations at speed, and I mean probably something like 99 times out of 100. Good luck with it.

    Spark Plugs..need it asap

Since the beginnings of the Internal Combustion Engine, snake oil spark plugs have been on the market. We have had 100 years or more to develop this part. If multiple electrodes and all these other gimmicks worked, you would have a set of them screwed in at the factory. The platinum plugs...

    160 Thermostat

Sorry I didn't finish my post earlier. I was interrupted. The second advantage to a hotter engine is that the fuel is more easily atomized, meaning it more easily maintains a vapor state rather than a series of droplets. Droplets are liquid and such liquid has two ill effects. One is that...

    160 Thermostat

A lower temp thermostat is not conducive to long engine life. Engine heat is necessary for a number of reasons. Some of them most detrimental to engine life are: Lack of heat to boil the condensation out of the oil so that it can be sucked through the PCV valve and burned. There are...

    Balanced tire

It may very well be the tire making the noise. In recent years I have started hearing tires howl so loud that I was sure that there were wheel bearings bad, but it would turn out to be a tire. Swap that wheel with the one on the same side in the front and see if the noise moves.

    TSB for 06 GT

Yes, there's no reason to get nervous because there are lots of TSB's. This is the case with all makes and all models. As far as rear gear failure, this TSB does not mean that your rear axle is definitely bad. It will be a relatively low percentage of cars that will need to be serviced on...

    Article on EEC reprograming

Yes, I picked up a copy as well. It is a three part series and is VERY well written. The issue I picked up Saturday is part one.

    Spark Plug TQ Recommendations

Not all 5.4's use the same heads as the 4.6. I'm telling you that the 5.4's more commonly experience the spark plug thread problem. Talk to most anyone that sees them come through their shop and I'm sure that they will confirm this. For those who are getting all wrapped around the axle...

    torque or performance tune?

I am not at all experienced with these tuners, but I fully expect that the torque tune would make the car more fun to drive on the street while the performance tune would be for maximum, drag race horsepower.

    Aftermarket Intake Manifold

No, but if someone would make a long runner design that could add some mid range torque, it is something that I would be very interested in.

    Spark Plug TQ Recommendations

So, does this Tim guy offer a REASON that anti-sieze should not be used? I have used a THIN coat of COPPER based anti-sieze on so many mod motor spark plugs that I probably should have copper tone fingers and I have never had any problems. Using a HEAVY coat of it, getting it beyond the...

    New longer threaded spark plug

You will be okay without anti-sieze as long as you torque them to about 13 ft. lbs. The COPPER based anti-sieze does a great job with heat transfer as long as you use a VERY thin coat and don't get any on the plug beyond the threads. The anti-sieze is not there for its anti sieze function...

    Spark Plug TQ Recommendations

Yes, I forgot to mention the dielectric grease on the boots. If you ask for "tuneup grease" at the auto supply they will know what you are asking for. And yes, the 4.6 is not near as bad about losing plug threads as is the 5.4. I don't know about the new 3 Valve heads though. I do beg to...
