    Electrical/lighting issue - Head scratcher

Additional Updates. - I don't feel that I am much closer to a solution - There is a Black 8-pin connector which runs along the drivers side of engine compartment. This connector provides power to all lamps in front - My Running lights are still behaving like directionals...and vice...

    Electrical/lighting issue - Head scratcher

I had thought it was related to my relocating wires outside of the engine compartment...but I just verified off the 8 line connector (drivers side), which provides power to the front lamps, that my connections were accurate... All were color matched. Back to the garage for more tests...

    Electrical/lighting issue - Head scratcher

Setup: Ground up restore -- Now my front lights are not working correctly. - The 2-lead directional connector (with #194 bulb) behaves like the running-lamp. It goes on with the headlights - The 3-lead connector (with #3157 bulb) is behaving like the directional. It blinks with...

2001 SOHC - Testing Coil on plug ?

Anyone know how to test each Coil on plug (COP) ? I may have 1 or more COPs which are not producing the appropriate voltage. Anyone know how I can test for voltage on each one ?

Need pics of 1990-1993 Convertible weatherstripping

If anyone could be so kind... I could use a little help. I need pics of the weatherstripping around the front door and rear quarters of a convertible...preferably 1990-1993, but I'll accept anything at this point. See pics of the locations I'm interested in. In the middle of ground-up...

92 mustang lx 5.0 tach surges to 3500 but engine idle

No idea just yet on the tach behavior...I would however be curious about which electrical lines were tapped into for the aftermarket stereo. My first step would be to identify the malfuction codes which are resulting in the check engine light. I would start there since the computer is...

    crate engine question

Sir, I respectfully disagree with your advice and I'll attempt to briefly explain my point. AdamsGT, who started this thread, indicated the car would be street driven. In addition, the subject has to do with choosing between a 331 vs 347 engine. The typical/most popular EFI solution...

    crate engine question

The stock EEC only knows about 302 cubes, 19# injectors, a factory MAF, etc etc etc How would you suggest you plug a 347 into that stock EEC (computer) and have it run correctly ??? Personally, I've used a Binary Editor, wide-band O2, Moates Quarterhorse, and DataLogging in order to get my...

    crate engine question

Dittos on the induction system - I would stay with the EFI - part with a couple hundred bucks for a dyno/chip burn.

    Low RPM sputtering

Thoughts... - Backfires are often (not always) timing related - Base/idle timing could be compromised if the distributor has shifted/moved. - I would check your base timing with SPOUT removed - If base timing is OK, then we must 'hope' that your tuner got...

motor is tight musta done sumpin dumb

Thoughts... - Valve is kissing piston wrong pushrods ? too large a multiplier (1.6, 1.7, etc) in your rocker arms ? Incompatible piston/cam lift combo ? - Valve tappet binding up - debris caught in timing chain

    MAF size

IMO : 75 or 80 Make sure you have it calibrated to match your 24# injectors.

    How should I tune it?

If the guy comes recommended by more than his friends, make the drive, get the dyno -AND- street test ride, get a room for $100, have a beer, then drive home. You'll easily spend $600 to purchase a tweecer/Quarterhorse, Wide band O2, software, etc. and you'll still "not know" what to do with...

    Injector size 19/24

You could probably head-fake the EEC if you change out the MAF for one that is calibrated for 24# injectors...but you will not gain power. While I'm not certain, you could potentially introduce performance problems as your EEC does not have the flow characteristics (TPS v.s. Air Flow) for...

    windshield molding

Are you talking about the metal trim that goes around the sides and top of the exterior portion of the windshield OR the rubber trim which fits on the metal trim which goes around the exterior of the windshield ? pictures are worth 1,000 words.... Good Luck !

What do I test to know if the ECM is switching from open to Closed loop?

I prefer and use the Moates quarterhorse, but you don't want to part with the $$$ for one of these unless you want to know more than when you're in CL v.s. OL. The voltage check on the O2 sensors will oscillate Above -AND- Below 0.423V when working correctly. If you find that your voltage...

    Heater/Blower motor problem

Hissin-My apology, I can see where I was not clear. Here's what I know: - Jumped blower motor wires to fused line to battery and motor works - all fuses are OK (passed) - There is a 4 connector plug which connects to the "motor speed switch" (potentiometer), Regardles of which...

    QuarterHorse vs. AMS PMS

#1 - I have no experience with the AMS PMS, so I have no comment. I do understand it has a hefty price tag though. I have a Moates QH with my setup. I've also purchased the software license for the Binary Editor and Engine Analyzer. In the least, you'll need the Binary editor for making...
