    Should I Change to longtubes?

They're probably stock. I'm pretty sure Flowmaster doesn't do mufflers. Do you have any way of posting a pic?

He'll need new pistons for that. To get back on topic, sorry, but you'll lose.

better flow right out of the box: trickflow or AFR ?

I forgot to quote Viking Power. That was AFR 185s versus TW's. He said there was only a 10 horse difference. I showed him an example as to where it was basically double that.

    New belt route.

Pulled my engine out around noon today getting ready for the teardown and I've decided since I've got a non-working air conditioner and air is provided by the 2-60 system, plus the fact that I'm not using catalytic converters, aaaannnndd PLUS the fact that my belt is old, I've decided to ditch...

I'd lean more towards the XE270HR if you go with Comp Cams. Also, I'd recommend AFR 165s and having TMOSS(stangnet member), port your GT40 lower intake. He only charges $110 and it should make a big difference with those heads. I'd guess at least 10hp. Not to bad for $110.

better flow right out of the box: trickflow or AFR ?

MM&FF May 2002 pg. 215-222. They made 19 more hp, and 10 more lbs-trq and beat them all the way across the board from 3000-6500rpm. That's 90% more than what you mentioned.

If you're wanting to get a good tire, go with 235/60/15 BFG drag radials.

The rougher idle is combination of the LCA and the duration. The larger the duration, the rougher the idle. Also, the larger duration brings on a powerband that's moved higher in the rpm range, most of time causing a little-large lowend loss depending on the combination. A 112 centerline cam...

better flow right out of the box: trickflow or AFR ?

It's all in the combo. I can bring up an article where they're alot farther behind than that.

First you need to decide the heads you are going to run. You then need to figure out flow specs on that head. If you can't find them, PM me and I'll you what the heads flow. The heads, based mostly on the flow numbers, should determine which intake you choose to accompany them. Then, and only...

better flow right out of the box: trickflow or AFR ?

The 185 heads are better heads than the 165s, but not for your combination. AFR 185s will do good on a 302/306, but they need more compression or boost. The 165s are fine and will prove to be about the same as Twisted Wedges. The AFR 165s should have better bottom-end numbers. I was talking to...

I'd stick with the BBK on the throttle body choice. As long as your mass air meter is larger than your throttle body, you should be alright. The 73mm should be large enough for any street-driven 302 that doesn't have nitrous or a blower, BUT I'd go ahead and spring for the 76mm. The power...

You don't need to worry about it. Your cold air intake fixed this. The silencer is this plastic piece that pops out of the airbox surrounding the filter that makes up half of the box. A K&N air panel is just a highflow box-shaped (like the factory one) air filter.

With all other brand heads for a small block Ford, but the valve location on TW heads allow for .544 lift on stock 5.0 shortblocks. With other heads it's usually around .510-.515
