    Pertronix Ignitor III

I've been spending a crazy amount of time on the web trying to find out about the new Ignotor III which has both a rev limiter and multiple sparks all under the distributor cap. It seems too good to be true & I can't find much on the forums except a few references that it (sometimes) doesn't...

    Carb Tuning Question

It's nearly always ignition. I wouldn't do anything to the carb until you fully check out your ignition. Get a vacuum guage & see what it reads. it should be at least 18.5" with a steady needle at 800rpm. If the needle fluctuates a little, it means that your timing is retarded. I did the same...

API 'SM' Oil - no zinc... don't use in old engines?

There is info out there ZDDP has been cut down alot but there still is some left in most oils, even SM. Diesel Oil has enough of it & lots of people use it, so does most racing oil. It isn't as important when your engine is already broken in, but it can trash your lifters in a new build...

    DIN Radio install into 1969

DIN Install I was afraid that that bezel would be a POS. I have a repo or the original that I was thinking of cutting, but I've been hearing some good things about the Retrosound Model One shaft style radio which would fit perfectly. I may go with that. They also have a line of very low...

    DIN Radio install into 1969

Has anyone installed a DIN size stereo into a 1969 using the aftermarket CD Dash Bezel available from the vendors? I'd like to know how the stereo is supported - is there room for a sleeve, does the bezel hold it up in the front? I'm sick of my old AM/FM cassete player, I need an upgrade...

    Sealing Fuel Sending unit

I had an aftermarket sending unit where the fuel was dripping out of the post for the gas guage wire, nothing I did would stop the leak. I ended up tossing it and rebuilding my stock one.

    1969/70 Shelby Option Sheets

Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the options that were available to be ordered on a 69/70 Shelby? I especially want to know if a buyer could order a rear sway bar since none of them came stock with one. Thanks

    Exhaust Smell in Cabin

My vote is that it is coming in through the trunk. If it is coming in from under the car or the firewall etc. that would mean that you have an exhaust leak which needs to be fixed. If you don't have an exhaust system leak, it's then being pulled in from the back. After a drive, open the trunk &...

    Goodyear Polyglas Tires

I would never give up my radials, but my guess is that a standard heavy duty or gas shock would work fine. I don't believe that there is that much difference between them and the OEM stuff. I had gas shocks on my car way back in the 1970s when I think I was still using the old bias ply. Shocks...

    Distributor Installation Question

This is a great idea, I had that 180 degree off problem many years ago & it's made me nervous about pulling the distributor ever since. I'm still not clear how it can be off by 180 if you never crank the motor with the distributor out of the car.

Which system provides a crisper, more accurate timing signal - Unilite or Pertronix?

Hmm. I was thinking about doing just that & then I read how the stock distributors are a weak design with only a single bushing & started looking for a better distributor. I have the factory dual-point distributor, I wonder if they were built any stronger? Dan; by the way, why did you block...

Which system provides a crisper, more accurate timing signal - Unilite or Pertronix?

Right now I have an MSD setup on a stock dizzy. I'm torn between making it look as stock as possible and getting something high end like a D.U.I. The DUI may be a better option for me since I'd rather not run wires & hide the box etc. Do you have any experience or heard anything about the DUI?

Which system provides a crisper, more accurate timing signal - Unilite or Pertronix?

Best Distributor Options At the risk of hijacking this thread... What do y'all think is the best distributor for an FE engine, preferably with an adjustable advance and as stock appearing as possible? I want to throw out my old MSD setup & go with something that works well but looks more stock...

    1969 GT500 with Manual Choke

Thanks. That's it all right! I just learned (at least it was news to me) that when they retitled the 1969 Shelbys to 1970, they retrofitted the manual choke onto it to meet 1970 emissions standards. You learn something new about these cars every day!

    1969 GT500 with Manual Choke

I need some help identifiying the correct carb for a 1970 (1969 leftover) Shelby GT500 with 428CJ/Auto and A/C. Does anyone with the same car have a factory installed manual choke? The choke is directly under the ignition key on the dash.

    What is it worth

How do you know that the engine is siezed? BTW, I agree with the $6,000 - $8,000 figure assuming the body is in real good shape. The A/C & Pony interior is a big factor too. To all those who say that it's worth what someone will pay for it. What do y'all do when you list your house? You...
