upr k coil overs wheel rub?

The K member is not the problem. The interference is caused by the strut being too close to the wheel and that is a controlled by the spindle. Not the same set up but I did have rubbing problems with CO's. I wound up slotting the holes in the strut so I could tip the the wheel away from...

    Were does my coolant go?

Small coolant leaks will not always show in the oil. If you have a leak into a cylinder the coolant can flash off without ever making it into the oil. Pressure test the cooling system and do a compression check on the motor. If you pull the plugs and while pressure is on the system, water...

    couple questions

That is crank out of a 5.0 motor. HO or non HO is no different but the 5.0 is 50oz where the 302 is 28 oz. The oil pump is driven by the distributor. The shaft from the oil pump engages the bottom of the distributor shaft. The distributor, of course, is turned by the cam. A fox body oil...

    rear gear help.

just as a point of clarification. Stock T5's don't come with a 2.95 first. They have a variety of ratios depending on the application but only the aftermarket T5's (T5Z) has the 2.95 first Modern Driveline - T5 Transmission Specs

    rear gear help.

You will see a difference and the 4.10's will make that up almost completely. With that said 3.73 with a 2.95 first is not a bad ratio for a street car. I've run 3.55's with a 2.95 1st and not felt as the car is bogging.

    new kid here

First you need a solid lifter or a set of checking springs. Sometimes you have to use the checking springs as the valve springs will bend the checker. Lets assume you are using checking springs installed on one intake and one exhaust valve. Make sure the lifter is full of oil and is the...

Getting ready to build my 5.0...some questions

You can do 400 HP on a 306 with not much of an issue. You'll need to make sure your local shop is competant. Tell them you want main studs installed and see if they tell you an align home is necessary. If they say it's not or don't quote you that cost find another shop. On the bottom end...

    cam question

That intake will work well with GT40 heads. I would look into Comp XE cams. You could do a XE266HR. The XE grinds have pretty aggressive lobes for an OTS grind and a split pattern is helpful.

    Notched my first piston "pics"

The piston should not "wear into" the bore. The bigger concern is the ring lands being fubar from age. If they measure out ok, and you can clean them up good enough to look for cracks and such, then there is no reason you can't use a used piston. Mic them, inspect them, and if they are ok...

    Cam options

That DEH cam is a flat tappet not a roller. A better choice would be the XE274HR. This will give you a pretty good idle and should make you 350 at the flywheel. You'll need at least 24 lb injectors. Now you can have the same idle characteristics and make 425 at the flywheel with a...

    Notched my first piston "pics"

This is what you get when using the tool. This took about 45 minutes per bank once I got all set up.

    302 to a 331 ?

That's what I figured as it's a common perception but not an issue. The only real problem was support for the oil rings and that was solved long ago.

    patriot heads

It depends. Let me frame my answer. I'm a dealer for all three. Our price on RHS is set to compete directly with the other two. I also make more on RHS than the other two. So with that said. If you have the some header clearance buy the Canfield 195s. Keep in mind that the exhaust ports...

Need help picking cylinder heads, can't find MM&FF comparison I searched

You need to take magazine articles with a grain of salt. Not that the AFR's won't outperform the Edelbrocks Performer but remember that magazines make their money off advertisers so you need to look closely at the comparison. For what you are wanting to do and considering bang for the buck the...

    302 to a 331 ?

Since the OP is asking for recommendations I feel this question is warranted. Why do you say a 331 will last longer than a 347?

    patriot heads

You can't do an apples to apples comparison of those three heads. Well unless you are comparing the High Ports to Canfields but not even then. The Canfields have raised ports, revised valve placement, and longer runners. The TW heads have a VERY revised valve placement and shorter runners...

    302 to a 331 ?

Here is a suggestion Rebuild the 302 using some light hyper pistons and put a set of RHS 200 heads, custom cam and a track heat intake on it. You'll make 425 at the flywheel N/A. The motor will idle smooth, not load up, and pull to 7K. Save your dough for an early, Mexican, or aftermarket...

    patriot heads

That thread on HardCore not withstanding think about this. Bare patriot heads 695, assembled 935. That's 240.00 in valve train retail. Our RHS heads have over 400.00 in valve train (solid roller cam) and that's at our cost. Which heads do you think have better parts? Save your money...

    302 to a 331 ?

Don't do it at all. Turn that 302 into a 347 using the same procedure as above.

Should I get Rubber or Poly Control Arm Bushings?

For a street car rubber is MUCH better. Poly makes the rear end too stiff during body roll and you get a nasty little thing called snap oversteer. It's a pretty scary thing when it happens. If you are doing the axle end MM has a tool for pressing them out and pressing the new one's in. It's...
