I'm swapping in a T5Z(basically an astroperformance high alloy with z specs) this spring and re-doing the rear end (new seals, bearings, etc). I'm wondering if I should my 3:73's or change to 4:10's while the rear is open. I'm a little nervous that the tall geared T5Z with it's 2.95 1st and it's slightly taller 2nd & 3rd with my mods would make it bogg of the line or not feel like it's pulling right now. The stock T5 I believe has a 3.35 1st and even though 1st doesn't last long it pulls nice. I'm curious about any thoughts on 4.10's being any better with this tranny or stay with the 3:73's.

You will see a difference and the 4.10's will make that up almost completely. With that said 3.73 with a 2.95 first is not a bad ratio for a street car.

I've run 3.55's with a 2.95 1st and not felt as the car is bogging.

Maybe I'll keep the 3:73's then since 90% of time the car is street driven. I was just curious, talking with some other people they said going to a taller first takes away from the 3:73's a little compared to what I'm used to now with my current setup/mods.They brought up the 4:10's like you stated to make up the differance and it got me thinking. Thanks for the help.

stock T-5's have a 2.95 first gear TKO's have a 3.27 first. i would stick with the 3.73's unless you are planning to use a 28'' tire in the rear. I have 3.73's with a 275/60(28'') tire and it is great out of the hole and the highway cruise is 2500 rpms at 75mph and 3000rpm at 80mph.

3.73's are an awesome all around gear IMO
