    What would cause an 89 gt to die while driving

    I had a 95 GTS that was doing that. Turned out to be the ignition module inside the dizzy. I figured it out by pulling up a 94 vert beside it and started swapping parts until i figured out what stopped it.

    well one's things for sure, you need to time it with a light. I don't know how you're timing it by ear, but that's surely not accurate and a light is cheap at the auto parts store or you could easily borrow one. 35 sounds a little low without the vaccume, maybe bring that back up to 38 or...

    so it was doing that when you pulled out of parking lots and side streets? and you just replaced the 4 control arm bushings? I'll probably put in some uppers while I'm there just because. Could you see the wear/missing bushing piece while the arm was on? and i can do that weld myself...

    pushrod length checker? where the heck do i get one of those? Autozone? lol never heard of it. I'll do a search for it here in a few, but i remember there being a way to measure this as you were putting the engine together... just can't remember how. :shrug:

    my 93 cobra needs a new DS and i have the aluminum one coming out of my 94 with the addition of the new tranny soon... i know its a long shot, but can i use the FMS alum DS in my 93 cobra? it has a tremec 3550 and auburn pro posi, but i don't think that changes anything... thanks!

    I have a 69 351W block with ProComp 210cc heads and stud mount scorpion 1.6RRs... but no pushrods! i bought the motor without them. it has the guideplates, but i know that doesn't matter... also, it has an X303 cam with hydraulic roller lifters with the spider in there. anyone have this...

    Valvetrain question.

    with reusing old parts, especially valve train parts, you want to put them back in the same way they came out. did you make sure not to turn any of them around or put them back in the same order? I would think its a lifter not doing its job. But you described the noise as a hammering...

    what they said! ha! but seriously, have you had the car tuned? that might help if there's bad sensors.. is it running rich? not to discount other's comments on a stall, def. a good ad to your combo, but i think you were originally thinking that there could simply be not enough power...

    the torque specs on the valve covers is 25 right? b/c if you meant rockers, then i'm pretty sure they're measured in in/lbs (that's the voice of experience talking from when my friend snapped off three RR boldts! ha!) um, is the noise in one spot or all over?

    you know i used to get just over 20 mpg in my 94 cobra and it had 3.73's! It had a chip in it, so that may have helped. i did get 17 in the city, but one tank on the highway i even saw 22! I think there was no secret, just the right stuff done in the right areas: TB, headers, MAF, all smog...
