    Non body man needs help

I measured my '66 coupe with the molding removed, at the level of the latch pin centerline, and got an outside dimension of 53-3/4".

    '66 suspension saga

Crazy, ain't it? You'd think with the same car, same parts everywhere, things would come out roughly the same. My front end settled 3/4" in the first hundred miles or so, but nearly 500 miles later the rear hasn't moved at all.

    Seat for 6'4 Guy?

You don't want a Fiero seat. They sit lower than anything else out there, but they're narrow in the butt.

    '66 suspension saga

I finally got around to replacing the suspension on my '66 coupe. After months of reading archives, talking to folks, and agonizing over too stiff/soft, too high/low, etc., I finally went with Grab-a-trak 1" lowering GT coils, 4-leaf mid-eyes, Shelby drop, and roller perches. I already had...

carb swap - now engine shakes slightly at idle, etc.

Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak in the new carb. Could be a worn throttle shaft, a warped metering block or baseplate, or possibly even a porous casting somewhere...usually a metering block. Or maybe (hopefully) you damaged a vacuum line elsewhere during the swap. Does the idle speed...

    My Mustang Adventures 2011

Cool. I bought my '66 coupe in Fresno, CA, four years ago and drove it home to Mississippi. My then-12 year old son and I drove as much of Route 66 as is left between LA and OK City. Priceless memories...

    Mixing dimensions - exhaust

While I agree that there wouldn't be a lot of practical benefit to the 2.5" pipe in this situation, it's not accurate to say that a system will not flow any better than its smallest section. Losses/resistance/backpressure in an exhaust system is mostly from friction and turbulance along the...

    65/66 stance, wheel, tire pics

During the decision-making phase for my current Stang (still ongoing), I took some pics and measurements at some local shows, parking lots, etc. Since there's always someone searching for 'that look', I thought I'd post them online for all to see. I've included what info I could gather...

    Unusual brake light problem

Glad you figured it out. I just solved a similar problem in a way that surprised me. My rear turn signals worked fine until I turned the lights on. Then, when the left signal was on it was extra bright, but the right tail light went completely out when the left one flashed. I also had...

    did I screw up?

Thanks for the peace of mind, guys. Those "someones" were local dealership techs (they quit calling 'em mechanics for a reason), one of whom had been around long enough to know better. Guess it's been a while since they've seen anything sans an ABS box.

    did I screw up?

I recently swapped a dual master cylinder into my '66. The previous owner had installed Granada front discs, but had left the old fruit jar in place. The power brake booster was shot as well. Rather than using a stock-type proportioning valve/distribution block, I just created two totally...

    '66 dual mc/booster questions

My '66s (v8 auto) brake booster is shot and I'd like to swap to a later booster and a dual master cylinder. The car has had a front disc conversion (Granada), but I'm not sure if the proportioning block has been changed. The braking seems to be slightly biased toward the rear, but since the...

    LED dash light report

I removed the covers. I also painted the entire inside of the cluster gloss white. Parts of my cluster had black shading. I assume it was to control reflections, direct light, or whatever. I painted over all that. Although I mentioned that my dash is a little too bright for me, understand...

Some pictures of my project... The Mustang SHO

About '80-81, probably before the whole "monster truck/Bigfoot" thing took off, my neighbor put an early Bronco chassis under a Mustang II body. He had her jacked waaay up with 44s under it. Hadn't thought about that for years...

    LED dash light report

The '65-65 kit comes with four blue bulbs, two white (turn signals), and two red (high beam/warning lights). I don't have any pics, but the ones on Ebay look exactly like my dash.

    LED dash light report

Got my instrument cluster back in with the new LED bulbs. I like 'em. It has a nice neon-like blue color and is much brighter than what I had. The kit from these folks ( http://stores.ebay.com/HiPoParts-Manuals ) uses an "inverted lens" bulb that casts the light to the sides. I removed the...

    Export brace, looking for alternatives.

I installed a stock-type export brace and a curved Monte bar at the same time. The combo made a big difference in chassis rigidity and overall solid feel, and was more than worth the money. I wouldn't think there would be any real advantage to aftermarket designs, adjustable bars, etc., unless...

    another ride height question

Thanks a bunch, Fasttback! That's just what I was looking for. Do you think there would be any difference in ride height between the four and five-leaf springs? Do they compensate for the increased spring rate by making the leaves flatter, or am I thinking about this all wrong?

    another ride height question

Bump. I'll try another tack. Could some of you guys with Grab-a-Track rear springs post the type spring you have, your tire size, and a measurement from the top center of your wheelwell to the ground (or any other measure of rear ride heigth)? Purty-pleeez :D Barry
