    thanks for the tips and I would take the same pride in saying I built it too. I will have to make sure my guy at the shop knows that the stock replacements should be forged.

    I was thinking the same thing. I guess i'll just have it rebuilt. The only problem I have his my rebuilder says that the replacement pistons are cast.. but the pistons in there now are forged. That doesnt seem right!

    How do you figure out if your engine needs a rebuild without having hear it run? Bought an 88GT with a bad fuel pump. I ended up yanking the motor to replace all gaskets and upgrade cam.. but now im stuck trying to figure out if i should just have it totally rebuilt.

    Somewhat of a noob here, but while dropping the exhaust on my 88Gt I noticed that the air tube was wedled to the factory H pipe. If i were to replace the H pipe would the vendor supply another air tube to cool off the cats or do i remove mine and reweld? Also, if for some reason the new cats...

    Was removing a gt40 from the junkyard and noticed that one of the studs used to mount the throttle body to the upper plenum was broken off flush with the plenum. Has anyone has to remove/repair one of those studs? Or is the upper intake now junk?

    Yea these tires have massive grooves in them. The tires arent wider, but the tread pattern is much different than what i had on there before.

    Just got new tires and alignment and now every now and then i get a weird shimm in the wheel and the car wants to pull the right. The tires I put on has massive grooves in them.. could that be the reason? It doesnt shimmy all the time just on certain streets. I do know that my sway bar...

    window randomly wont work?

    I just had my passenger side window on my 94GT stop working with the window all the way down. I took off the door panel and use a small hammer and lightly tapped on the motor while holding the up botton and after a few taps, the window went right up. I guess it got stuck or seized.

    @ 15* it seems to run really good. It was about 80 degrees yesterday when i went for a test run after setting base timing and I didnt hear any pinging sounds. But I do have the weirdest "whistle" sound when i go WOT?????!

    Yeap those are the only mods as of now. Well pinging is detonation right? and detonation is very harmful to the pistons isnt it ? The question still remains.. how can you tell if your car is pinging under load?

    Just recently set my car from 10 base to 15, but my exhaust is so loud how do you know if its running OK at that timing mark? the car pulls hard and doesnt buck or hesitate.. does that mean im in the clear? I run 91 Shell octane with V power <-- lol
