    Thermostat - is it necessary?

Earl's makes spring inserts in AN sizes. I used their -10AN spring to keep the hose from collapsing in an air/oil separator I use in another car. I don't know if they make anything as big as you'd need. We have a hose shop in my local area that can fabricate up all kinds of custom hoses and...

    Hot air choke hookup question

Hi, I've got a 1969 Mustang with the original 302 engine sporting the factory autolite 2-barrel carb. Will my existing hot air choke tube coming off the exhaust manifold hook up to the Autolite 4100 without any modifications? Only if I use a vintage factory 4-barrel intake? Thanks! Chad

My experience with front disc brake conversion (discbrakeswap.com)

You could do the install in less than 8 hours if everything goes smoothly (ie. old tubing comes loose easily, you have whatever fittings you may need, and can bend up your new tubing without much pain). I found that I needed a little more grease for the bearings than came in the kit and picked...

My experience with front disc brake conversion (discbrakeswap.com)

Hi, This post is to document my experiences with the SWAP1 kit from Dennis at Discbrakeswap.com. I put these on my 1969 Mustang Coupe that has the original 302-2v engine, C4, power steering, air conditioning and non-power drum brakes. I am also using 15x7 Magnum 500 wheels on 60 series BFG...

Intake and carb selection advice needed

Thanks again for all the great responses. I appreciate all the great advice from your own experiences. I looked into an AOD trans years ago but I don't drive it enough to justify the cost so I will probably stick with the C4, going to 3.00 or 3.25 gears would be nice!! Will my existing hot...

Intake and carb selection advice needed

Thanks for the quick reply! I just looked at the 570cfm Street Avenger carburetor and it looks very nice. Maybe coupled with the Weiand Action Plus or Stealth intake since they are both made by Holley I'd hope they'd mate up together easily enough. I'd need to secure the hot air tube coming off...

Intake and carb selection advice needed

Ok, I am throwing around the idea of taking off the stock 2-barrel cast iron intake manifold and hot-air choke 2-barrel autolite carb and replacing it with a modern aluminum intake manifold and 4-barrel vacuum secondary carburetor but have no idea what carb and intake to go with. Here are my...

    stoker kit advise

Do you need to swap in different front springs to account for the extra weight of a 351 over the 302? From what I've read, the 331 stroker is "longer lasting" than the 347 due to depth of the piston and relative location of the rings. No idea personally since I have a stock 302 in my 69.

    Paint Colors Help

Go into your local automotive paint supplier and look at them in person. Looking at online scans of color chips is not going to work. Every computer monitor is going to display colors differently based on how it is setup, more so on LCD monitors that are popular today. I have seen more...

    rear wheel HP ??????

Another illustration with the 4.6L-3v motors on the 2005-2009 Mustangs. 300 hp rated by the factory works out to about 265 rwhp manual and say 245 rwhp with the automatic in real life dyno pulls. Some engines make more and some less that is about what I see reported on a bone stock motor.

    Air cleaner recommendations?

Yeah, they'll send you a check in the mail. Could take anywhere from 2 to 12 weeks depending on the company processing their rebates. I buy things on rebate all the time and I'd say I get the check 19 out of 20 times if not better.

    Air cleaner recommendations?

Fram has a $20 rebate on their Air Hog filters. You can get up to two rebates per household and the deal lasts through the end of the year. Just measure up what you need and go to the Fram website to get the part number. Then go to Amazon.com and buy two to get it with free shipping. I bought...

    Shop Manual. Paper or electronic?

Thanks for the replies. I found a partial PDF DEMO of the manual from the linked website below that sells it on CD. The scan quality is good enough though not stellar IMO. It just happens to cover brakes which is what I was wanting. Good luck to me!! Forel Publishing Company, LLC

    Shop Manual. Paper or electronic?

I think I am going to pick up a set of 1969 Ford shop manuals. I can get it electronically via download for around $17 or purchase a hard copy for around $60. Has anyone purchased shop manuals as an electronic copy? If so, what kind of quality are the scans? Are the diagrams easy to read? Am I...

    Dumb Ignition Question

I put in a MSD 6A box along with a Ford Duraspark distributor when I rebuilt my motor. Plus side is hotter spark and timing stays put and no points, condenser, etc. The down side is if the MSD 6A box fails then you are stranded. My MSD box failed on me one time and cost me a 50 mile tow home. It...

What disc brake kit should I choose? SWAP.1 or SWAP.3 kit from discbrakeswap.com?

Thanks for the replies Thanks for the replies! I think I am going to go with the SWAP.1 kit for the 4-piston calipers and not having to mess with the spindles. I am going to pull my front drums this week and confirm my original spindles are in good shape still. Figure if I am going to stick...

What disc brake kit should I choose? SWAP.1 or SWAP.3 kit from discbrakeswap.com?

That's what I thought at first too but when you drill down further into the website it says the 65-67 SWAP.1 kit will work on 65-73 Mustangs with V8 drum spindles. http://www.discbrakeswap.com/Mustang%20Disc%20Brake%20Conversion%20Kits%20SWAP1.html
