    Cowl Vent Repair

Thank you for all of the responses. The response from other forums has generally been negative about the adhesive, but I have decided to go with it anyway. I didn't mention it in my original post as I was interested only in opinions about the adhesive, but I plan to drill a small hole between...

    Cowl Vent Repair

I bought a 65 Mustang fastback rolling chassis a few years ago with the idea of building a restomod. I just bought a 66 Mustang coupe with a rusted out roof, trunk, and floors to use as a donor car for some of the parts (fenders, front and rear vavence, headlight buckets, bumper brackets, wire...

    crossmember trouble

crossmember All is not lost. I had the same problem on my 65 fastback. The original bolt is was 1/2-13 NC, so I drilled and tapped the hole for The next size up (9/16-12 NC) I took a 2 inch long 9/16 bolt and screwed on a nut as tight as I could get it. Then using my bench grinder and the...

    5W30 in a 302 '68?

5W30 oil I agree with Loup-garou about the zinc. A while back the EPA mandated that catalytic converters had to last 100,000 miles. At that time the zinc level in automotive oil was causing the converters to get clogged up too soon, so the oil manufacturers removed most of the zinc. This...

    Dim dash lights

I tried some LED's, in my 65 but they werent bright enough. So I removed the blue filters from the cluster, and replaced all of the bulbs. Without the filters there is enough light now. AND I can adjust the brightness with my light switch. Also, when you use LED's you get what you get. There is...

T5 jumps out of second gear

T5 jumping out of second Thanks many times for all of the great info guys. I got a reply from another forum which I think explains my situation pretty well, and may help others. It explains why it only jumps when downshifting, not after shifting into second under load. Here is the quote...

T5 jumps out of second gear

I just put a never installed heavy duty T5Z in my Mustang last month. It seemed fine for the first 600 miles or so. Last week I did a downshift from 3rd to 2nd at about 35 MPH and it jumped out of 2nd. Ever since then It will jump out of 2nd most of the time on a downshift, but only on a...

    69 mustang

I am hoping to buy a 69 convertable that I discovered recently, and am not sure what is a fair price to offer for it. The body is straight with very little rust except for the rear floors. It originally was a 302 with a C4. It has been sitting in the owner's garage for the last couple of...

    Compression Check

compression The compression ratio (C/R) is the ratio between the area in the cylinder and the area remaining when the piston is at top dead center (TDC) to arrive at the C/R you would devide the cylinder volume by the combustion chamber volume. An example would be: if the cylinder volume was...

brake switch on the 64 mustang

Put a "T" fitting between either of the brake lines coming out of master cyl and the master cylinder itself. Attach the brake line you removed to install the T to one outlet of the T, and attach your old brake light pressure switch to the other outlet of the T. Re-attach the original wires back...

    65 Stang gear whine

Gear whine For what it will cost, I will probably try replacing the pinion bearings first. I can always add the new gears later if I need to. I will probably stay with the 3.00 because I am running a T5 with the 3.35 first gear ratio and 24" dia. tires. I've got plenty of acceleration in first...

    65 Stang gear whine

I have a 3.00 8" rear in my 65 fastback that makes some noise between 35 and 55 mph under a load. When coasting or decelerating it is absolutely quiet. My guess is that the pinion bearings are bad. I am considering replacing both the pinion and side bearings and setting up the rear end again. My...

    Explorer rear into 65 stang

I am thinking about installing a 96 Explorer 8.8 rear into my 65 Fastback. I have heard that if you have 2 7/8 inches removed off the driver side axle tube it will center the pumpkin and you can use 2 passenger side axles in the rear end. I'm guessing I will have to relocate the spring perches...

    65 suspsenion help

Suspension help Excuse me, but I'm the one who was attacked here. I posted what I honestly believed would help with the problem. What I got back from Grabber was a negative and very sarcastic reply. A simple " Not a good idea due to the following reasons" Would have sufficed. Instead, he...

    65 suspsenion help

I wasn't talking about running 150 gallons moonshine in the trunk, only about supporting a hundred pounds or so. Just enough to raise the rear an inch or so so that the tires don't rub. Where did you come up with that BS about shoving the shocks through the floor of the car?

    Clutch, flywheel question T5 swap

I bought an old Hurst 3 speed shifter with a nice handle on eBay for 25 bucks. I sawed off the handle and bolted it to the t5 shifter. It is long and angles back so my right hand falls from the steering wheel right onto the Shifter. Perfect for me.

    65 suspsenion help

Mustang suspension Could be the shocks on the front. Sometimes when they get old they stiffen up. Cheapest way to fix the rear IMO is air shocks. That way if you decide to carry some extra weight in the trunk you can up the pressure.

Need help with 66 steering column.

Mustang steering shaft I think Heidt sells a conversion setup that consists of the steering shaft, a urethane bushing for the bottom of your stock steering column, a bracket to hold the column in place at the bottom, 2 U joints, and a connector shaft that goes from the column to the steering...
