    Is there a plastic float or something in these years coolant expansion tanks? I thought I remember seeing one in mine but not now, it's just open space in there.

    96 GT. Changing all the o rings in my oil cooler and noticed just a couple small black plastic pieces in there. Also after I drained my coolant from the radiator and I was dumping it into a container it had some more pieces in there too. Anyone know where they likely came from? It has me stumped.

    They mentioned it first thing and I replied back. Pressure tested it a few weeks when smelling coolant. Held pressure, no leak at that time. Found the leak now.

    No, stock factory 30 year old water pump. On the timing cover side where it's leaking you can see an orange/reddish material squeezing out.

    Just to update everyone, I got it to leak and saw it coming up a bit higher so put my hand to upper right side of timing cover and seemed to leaking from that.     Not exactly, but just above the timing cover on the driver's side, then dripping down oil pan on front driver side corner.

    No not yet, cause it's leaking out pretty bad now. Before when I started to smell it and was mysteriously losing a little, I did a pressure test and it was ok.

    I deleted the oil cooler setup a long time ago to clean up the engine bay.. Ok. Id be happy if it was just the water pump. What would explain smelling coolant at the front of the car after driving, and losing a tiny bit of it but not seeing any leaks or drips anywhere? Did this for awhile...

    Ok. I got under and checked the hose good. Don't see anything from it or the water pump. You can see seepage from the timing cover where is mates to the block a few inches above the oil pan.

    I have that kit on my 96 GT. It rides good. Only issue I have is that it only lowered the rear a 1/4 in. for some reason, while the front was a little more than 1.5 inches. Got the mm rear control arms with the adjustable spring perch, so will drop the rear down with those.

    I was having a PATS issue and my car wouldn't run. Sent in my pcm to a programmer and they disabled the PATS for like 80 bucks, also had them do a custom tune since the ecm was out. Now everything is all good. You can find them on the web and ebay selling the PATS delete.
