Looking for ported stock heads, intake and stock cam dynos

Whaaaa... Man, that is a lot better than mine! What kind of exhaust did you use on that dyno run? What tb, and what do you do to tune it? I must know all your secrets! ok... maybe a bit to far. But that is impressive. I bet 90Notch would love numbers like that!

Looking for ported stock heads, intake and stock cam dynos

I'm still on the list!!  By the way, torque for me peaked at 3600, and hp was 224-225 from 4500 to 4900 rpm's. But all that is about to change! I'm going to a supercharged 331 stroker. :D

What do you think of my plans?

Yes, the snout does need a support, and I just finished making a template for it this afternoon. It supports the front from off the waterpump bolts. I'm going to take it over to the machine shop on Wed., and have it made out of a 1/2" thick plate of aluminum. Then I'm going to polish it. A...

What do you think of my plans?

I had the snout custom made at a machine shop. It goes right over the distributer. Being in a Ranger I have tons of hood clearance as well, but for this I'm going to have to cut out some hood bracing to make it fit. Here is a pic.

What do you think of my plans?

Ok, I have to replace the crank in my motor. I'm going to supercharge it, and while checking to see if the motor would take it, I found a few problems , so new crank. Anyway, since this is the last time I plan on having the motor out, I think I'm going to put a bunch in it. So, here are the...

surging idle and how to fix

The idle adjustment screw is closed to far. Turning this will open the throttle, and help the car idle. The car should be able to idle without the IAC. So, just turn that screw on the back lower side of the throttle body. This is the same screw you use to set your idle where you want it to be.

surging idle and how to fix

Ok.... To set your idle, first make sure the car is at operating temperatures, warmed up. Get the car idling then unplug the IAC, which the long cylinder on the front side of the throttle body. Then turn the idle set screw until the idle is near where you want it to be. The idle set screw is...

    Question about 331

I'm only going to get 5-6 psi on a 331. What I'm really looking to do is get a motor that will run well on the street. I don't really care, right now, if the motor signs off above 4500. I just want to be prepared for it. The only reason I'm considering a 331 is because I have to replace the...

    Question about 331

Ok, I just found out that my shortblock needs a rebuild. I think I may go to a 331, but my funds are really thin. I have a friend who may be able to get me a kit at dealer cost. And my shop will zero balance my flywheel cheap. What I would like to know is how the 331 might be effected by stock...

    Best Intake for my 331??

Maybe an Edelbrock Performer or a Trickflow Track heat. A ported Cobra should work as well. Where are you getting the cam? If it is custom, then have the cam maker suggest an intake. I know the FTI combo uses the Edelbrock, which is a good intake. But I like the look of Trickflow.

Iron shavings in oil filter... what to do?

I'm thinking about a stroker, but I still have stock heads and cam, so I'm not sure if these will support a stroker. I was trying to work out a 331. The reason I was looking at the pressure to begin with is I plan on adding an Eaton M112 off a lightning here very soon. In fact, if the bearings...

Iron shavings in oil filter... what to do?

Update.... The iron shavings are from the crank. The thrust bearing is toast, and the back rod bearings are gone. Plus there was some scoring in the oil pump. Crap.

Iron shavings in oil filter... what to do?

When it fluctuates, the gauge actually shakes back and forth really quickly. It starts with an initial drop in pressure, then it jumps back and forth from about 25psi to roughly 55psi. The shaking appears like a serious vibration, if that makes sense. And once I get off the gas, the shaking...

Did you spray around the fuel injectors? Sometimes the o-rings get old and the manifold can leak there.

Iron shavings in oil filter... what to do?

I found a good bit of iron shaving in my oil filter. I was having wierd oiling issues at high rpm, so I decided to check. I was told that iron means it is the oil pump, and not bearings. I have good pressure during normal driving. I just fluctuates only under full throttle after 4000rpm's...

    Burning up alternators

Well, I checked all the wires again. No problems there. I have been running 4 gauge grounds everywhere since I did the swap. The alternators I have been killing are Palladium brand from Advanced Auto Parts. So I have yet to find a reason why this one died, but they gave me another one. Since...
