Finding an affordable small block isn't my problem... it's the additional price of heads, intake, cam, injectors, R&R, etc., etc., that I'm having a hard time affording. A nice long block alone costs over 5-6k.
I was thinking about getting a new motor (331 Stroker), but it's just too much money. So, instead I'm thinking of having my 302 rebuilt w/ forged pistons and adding a blower... maybe a Novi 2000. What do you guys think... is this a good idea?
I've checked out their Website... I should probably give them a call. They list a 450hp 331/347 Stroker for $6,295.00. If I went this route, how much would it cost to remove my tired 5.0 and slap this monster in?
Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I don't have enough know-how to build this up myself... I wish I did. I've read that 347's don't last long without a rebuild... they start burning oil after approx 20k miles. The performance shop thought a 331 would be the best option for me, the car will be...
I've started saving for a 331 Stroker that's rated at 440hp with 10.5:1 compression. The total cost, plus installation is $7,800. Can you guys take a look at the specs and tell me if this is a good deal? This is a complete engine package... the only thing it doesn't come with is a dizzy and...
I'm shopping around for a new engine, and this is what I've found that best fits my budget. It's a 302 with 345hp for $3200.00. Does a better deal exist than this one? If so, point me in the right direction. Here's a link to the engine I'm looking at...
Alright guys, the headers are on! I can tell a difference, it's a bit louder and has a better tone. I'm happy! I got a quote on a used Cobra intake while I was at the shop, is $325 a fair price? Thanks.
Thanks for all the responses everybody! Headers were the only thing still needed to complete my exhaust setup, so it made sense to get them instead of another bolt-on. Once the headers are on, it'll definitely be time for heads/cam/intake, then I expect to reap the full benefit of my exhaust...
Seems the small HP gain of Equal headers isn't worth all the inconveniences that it brings. Therefore, I'm choosing BBK Unequals. Infact, I just placed my order!
