    MM Quadrant & Adjusters

I was going to buy the quadrant, firewall adjuster, and clutch pedal height adjuster kits from Maximum Motorsports. What do you guys think about this quadrant; is it good or not? That place seems to be pretty informed about the subject... http://www.maximummotorsports.com/cq.asp

    Remote wire

Yeah the remote wire should be either blue or blue with white stripes (most likely with stripes). It really doesn't matter what you wire the remote turn-on to, just as long as it's a +~12v source. It is easier to do it off the headunit though so all of your equipment turns off at the same...

    shimming the starter

Well besides the dust shield for the bellhousing, I don't think there is anything else. Lock washers on the bolts might be a good idea, as that's how they came on mine.

vibration problem. Think i found something.

Mine cost $45. How the hell could the pilot bearing fall out? :rlaugh: There isn't any damage, is there?

T5 Leak - Drain plug crack

As some of you know I switched out my clutch last weekend and refilled the tranny. Well I've had a small fluid leak over the past few days, and today I decided to get under there and have a look. I thought it was just the new fluid leveling itself out still, but that was not the case. I saw...

What would cause a heavy clutch pedal?

Well my cable couldn't be routed wrong because it's the original one. The quadrant is stock too. Maybe it has something to do with the grease on the bearing retainer? Perhaps it thickens, I have no idea.

What would cause a heavy clutch pedal?

When I started my car up right after the King Cobra install, the clutch pedal felt, literally, as light as the gas pedal. It's got almost 200 miles on it now and it's hardened up considerably, pretty much to the stock pedal effort now.

    Clutch Replacement

I don't know what idle surge is, but sometimes at a cold start, when I rev it up to 2 or 3k, it kind of stays there for a couple few seconds before it comes back down (my foot was off the pedal). What causes that? Is there any way to fix this 1st gear clutch chatter though? Hopefully it'll...

New clutch – jerky during feathered take off - ?

Hmm. I just got finished putting in a new King Cobra clutch into my 93 5.0L. I'm having the same problem with the jerkiness at takeoff. It doesn't really matter what combination of clutch/gas I give it, it still jerks. Have you fixed it yet? Any ideas?

    Clutch Replacement

It's a Valeo King Cobra. I really like the feel of it so far. The only issue is the jerky 1st gear takeoff.

    Clutch Replacement

Alright disregard the last post. I shimmed the retainer so there is just a tiny bit of drag with no play and got everything all back together. The clutch feels amazing...it is about as light and smooth as the gas pedal. It shifts flawlessly, but jerks a little on a normal speed 1st gear...

    Clutch Replacement

Well I did a little comparing with the old aluminum retainer and the new steel retainer and the shim. The old retainer with the shim allows the shaft to spin freely and has slight endplay (which is ideal, no?). The new retainer with the shim is too tight and does not allow the shaft to spin...

    Clutch Replacement

Another question... I installed the steel retainer with the original shim and race, and the input shaft does not spin freely. SHOULD the input shaft spin freely with the steel retainer installed @15ft lbs? Mine doesn't.

    Clutch Replacement

    Alright I measured what I think I need to measure and compared the two respectively. -------------------------------------- Old aluminum retainer A = ~ 9.0 mm B = ~ 15.5 mm C = ~ 19.5 mm New steel retainer A = ~ 10.0 mm B = ~ 15.5 mm C = ~ 20.0 mm...

    Clutch Replacement

Thanks for the replies. I just thought I'd bring this up as well... It's about the top starter bolt. It was completely fused into the starter housing and broke when trying to loosen it. The head of the bolt broke off, and when taking out the bellhousing, the lip of the starter that the bolt...

    Clutch Replacement

Is that retainer seal removeable? I don't know, but there is something weird about the steel retainer's seal that doesn't quite fit on the input shaft right...maybe it's just me though. Where's the best way to order those shims if I wanted to get some? I'm putting everthing together this...

    Clutch Replacement

Also, can I refill the T5 from the shifter hole after it's in the car and off jackstands? I've got 3 quarts, is that enough?

Did you just use the shim that came on the stock retainer?

Thanks, does anyone know anything about the steel retainer?
