    Misfire...tried everything

    When you check for codes not only can you search for stored codes.You can also do a key on engine running test.Most tell you to turn wheel from lock to lock and do a brief wide open throttle.It check how the car is when running.

    The module is the piece that the harness plugs into on side of the distributor.The pick up in the distributor tells the module what plug is firein and it tells the computer witch fires the right injector to fire.If you are get a spark of any kind it must all be working on that end.

    If you want a engine flush by a quart of engine fush.It is made for that.I have heard of people puttin kerosine in the crankcase to.Thing is some older engines the gunk is holdin the valve train together.You might end up with a loose noisey engine and mess up the seals.

    Oil on sparkplug threads, what's the culprit?

    You might have valve covers leaking down to the spark plug.Then its working its way in the spark plug threads.Make sure you don't have a leak there.If you have a leak don't try to tighting them.It will make it worse.You need new gaskets.

    Your car must be running to check timming.If the module was bad you would not get a spark and if the car is sending spark to the plugs then the pick up is fine.Since you replaced the coil I would guess the duraspark box.Try a junk yard one.

    What temp thermostat do you run?

    I put in a hypertech module and it came with a 165 and a retuned octane rod for the distributor.My car runs cool but when I am in stop and go traffic I'm glad I have it. A coool engine is better then a hot one make sure you drive your car in alot of stop and go traffic before switching it out.
