    Let’s talk suspension

Yes - been there, done that I have, and I've discussed suspension at length with Kevin (BTW - it's a very good site). I also plan on buying his UCA kit. But I want to have a better understanding of the suspension geometry before I make my next round of purchases (I've already been burned once...

    Let’s talk suspension

First off, thanks to all of the responses to not only my previous questions, but to the many answers I found in the archive of threads. But I’m still left with some basic questions, which seem to grow in complexity as I dig deeper into the subject. But first a disclaimer – I’m going to make some...

    Is my car cursed?

I wish I could, but there just isn't any room for the stock fan. The front end of the car was slightly damaged by the previous owner, pushing the radiator support in. I couldn't see this when I bought the car, it was only clear when the stock radiator came out. So I had a body shop bend it back...

    Is my car cursed?

Yes - BIG traction problems. You can learn more by looking at some of my other threads.

    Is my car cursed?

After getting over the last trauma of spilling coolant and a thrown belt at my last race outing, I finally had a chance to drive the GT again yesterday. Well, I got as far as work when the engine temp started climbing beyond the normal range (it was 225F when I pulled into my parking spot). The...

Please help this code pulling noob

More info I disconnected the battery (for an unrelated project) and cleared the memory. I then ran the car up to temperature at idle and ran the KOEO test again. I received the all clear code 11 for both on-demand and continuous memory. I then took the car out for a short drive, and still...

Please help this code pulling noob

One word WOW!! Now that's what I was looking for. I think you're assuming that I have more mechanical skills than I actually do, but I'll digest your information and take it as far as I can on my own Thanks a million.

Please help this code pulling noob

This applies to the '88GT. When I get on the car and pull heavy boost, the check engine light will come on for a few seconds after I let up on the gas. I should also mention that this CEL problem only started after the passenger side header gasket was replaced. I pulled the codes today (KOEO)...

    Best OBD-1 reader

The CEL on my '88 GT has been coming on intermittently lately. I have never pulled codes on a car before, and I'm tired of paying other people to do what has to be a relatively simple job (pulling the code that is). I've searched several pages of threads, but can't find one that answers my one...

    Is It Just Me?

    Top end woes

Still trying to get all of the bugs out of the new motor. I have a favorite uphill onramp near my house where I can really get on it. Discovered today that at 5500 rpm, the motor starts to backfire big time, but is fine when I shift to the next gear. I'm using a MSD 6AL with the YS trim blower...

Please help me fit my cheater slicks

I suspect I'll need the bigger tires for the power I'm putting down. Besides, where there's a will, there's a way (and I have the "will" bigtime).

Please help me fit my cheater slicks

Trying to stuff 28 x 11.5 ET Streets into an '88 GT. Problem isn't up top, its the ground effects (particularly the rear) - I can't fit my fingers in the space seperating the tire from the rear g.e., so I doubt there will be sufficient clearance when the tire grows. I need some advice on what to...

    Differential Gasket

Stuck with the gasket I'm a happy camper again. With the fresh gear oil + friction modifier, my differential is back to its quiet self. Everything looked fine inside.

Differential fill plug frozen - I need help

Success! Man that was a PITA! But I finally got it out. The effort was well worth it too - no more chatter from my differential (see other thread on differential noise). Now the rear end is smooth as silk, and I'm one happy camper :D

Differential fill plug frozen - I need help

I'm trying to change out the lubricant, but I can't get the bloody fill plug out. I don't want to proceed until I do. I'm pretty sure I have the correct location, but maybe I don't. What I'm trying to loosen is on the face of the differential facing the front of the car, about half-way up, on...

    Differential Gasket

Following up on an earlier post, it occured to me (after extensive searching) that the reason my differential is chattering is probably because no friction modifier was added when the axles were removed to put in the longer studs (I don't know this for a fact, but I bet I'm right). I know it was...

Did your Auburn Pro get noisier with time?

I had their differential installed on the '88GT not too long ago. When first installed, the differential was quiet as can be. However, in the last few days I've noticed that it has become very noisy anytime I make a sharp turn (but just fine going straight). My trusted mechanic tells me it's...

    3" front studs without drilling?

I thought I once read a thread describing a non-ARP vendor that sold 3" studs with the correct knurl size to fit the front end (of the '88 GT) without drilling. Now I can't find the thread(s). Anybody know if there is such a vendor (and the part number), or am I going to have to drill?
